Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Racing QLD, and as a consequence Racing Information Services Australia (RISA), had jockey Matthew Chadwick as claiming a kilo and a half on Lets Do It Again in the 4th at the Gold Coast on Saturday when the fields went up. Chadwick, for a long time one of Hong Kong’s leading riders, hasn’t had a […]
There were a series of strange decisions in race 6 at Eagle Farm yesterday. First there was a protect 2nd v 1st for alleged interference passing the 250m mark. The protest appeared to have strong grounds, for the winner ridden by Jai Williams in the yellow and red definitely took jockey Tahlia Fenton in the […]
There has only ever been one boxing night held at the Sydney Opera House. The video below shows you why. It was in 1982, and the main event was an Australian middleweight title bout. Charkey Ramon – a former light heavyweight champ – was the referee. Which was lucky for him, and unlucky for the […]
Adam Hamilton is a discredit to himself, his profession and the sport of harness racing. The tragedy is that he was once a great journalist, the doyen of trot writers and commentators in Australia. I don’t know what has happened, but these days he seems to be just a sycophant who prefers the easy type […]
by Adam Hamilton After a race Down Under harness racing should have celebrated for weeks, the unfortunate dark side of the game ruined it for one of Australia’s top young drivers. I hate getting old. It really, really sucks. But it’s better than not getting old enough to have wrinkles and pains and aches and losing your looks. Or not living to watch your grandkids grow up. And what a place paradise (Port Douglas) is to do it. Why on earth do people wanna fight wars? […]
If you would like an example of a race where incompetent race programming contributes to odds on favourites (rather than the NR system) look no further than Race 1 at Redcliffe on Wednesday night. It’s a NR47-54 graded race and Rock Nien which is a 54 rater draws barrier 1. How does this happen? Because […]
We will have a lot more to say about the recommendations of the so-called One Equine View propounded in the Project Stamina report released yesterday in due course after we have read and dissected it a few more times, but here is our initial warning about the whole thing. Don’t fall for the feint, or […]
Racing QLD has announced a bunch of wild endeavours to increase the size of race fields in the state, most of which I personally consider absurd, but more of that later. You can read about the basics of the RQ measures here now here if you like. But what is really important is the numbers […]
The horse drawn the pole Amys Baby Angel was backed from $2.60 into $1.33 on the TAB. Whata Optimist drawn behind it in 7 firmed from $7.00 into $4.20. The fluctuations made sense, because it was a weak race and Amys Baby Angel looked certain to hold the front early with What Optimist equally […]
