Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Hey Archie, Re: Grant Dixon’s drive… If you take this drive without looking at the past few FFA’s (most importantly referencing last week’s FFA), it is easy to say, what the hell was Grant thinking? However, it needed to be done! He needed to make a stand to end the constant team driving of Pete […]
If you were a seriously cynical type you would swear that Grant Dixon drove Tims A Trooper to get the long odds on favorite Attachment beaten in race 7 at Albion Park on Saturday night, and perhaps to set it up for the winner Dashing too. Given Dixon’s industry wide reputation as a straight shooter […]
You wouldn’t have wanted to be a trot punter chasing a cheap multi with either or both of Grant Dixon’s odds on shots in it at Albion Park on Tuesday. Fredidrivsamercury was the first one. It started at $1.28. Anyone who took it was mad, for Fredi was a 3yo taking on older horses, and […]
We keep asking questions about the competence of the current batch of QLD trot Stewards, and the answers we are getting aren’t good. What happened on Friday night is yet another illustration. It was standing start trot race, with eight horses drawn off 20m. That’s okay, because they start 8 across from the stand at […]
PRINCE NASEEM NZ Shortly after the start jumped an object on the track and breaking gait for a short distance no action was taken against the Gelding in this instance due to the multiple false starts. Inclined to hang in over the concluding stages of the event when placed under pressure. There were two false starts […]
It has come to our attention that our story earlier this week about the Albion Park starters involved in the accidental ring-in affair was not quite right. The starters are stood down from duty on full pay, but not for 3 months. They are suspended from work while a disciplinary investigation process is undertaken, and […]
Archie Noticed while visiting Marburg (Monday) and AP (Tuesday) that starters John Peterson and Jason Suli are still nowhere to be seen. Two people in the mobile and on the standing start platform. One is K.Williams (long time member of the industry usually swab collector and other roles, and also steward Lisa Bahr, former driver. […]
Albion Park starters J. Petersen and J. Suli were the officials whose job it was to check the brands and identities of horses running at the Creek on the night recently that a mare was allowed to start as a gelding of a different name. Three licensees involved in the presentation of the wrong horse […]
Take a look at what went on here in the last race at Albion Park on Saturday night. If you didn’t know better, or at least believe that you do, you’d almost swear that Jack Chapple, the driver of the leader and long odds on favorite Fire And Passion, and Angus Garrard on the 2nd […]
Story by Phil Purser Please be advised that Gitana, the widow of Dan Costello, has advised that a memorial service for her late husband Dan will be held at Albion Park on Sunday 30 August at 2pm. As an aside, Gitana is meeting with me on Wednesday of this week, so that we can work […]
