Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Hi Archie I’m neither here or there with the Nathan Dawson drive. His defense will be that he was following the well supported odds on fav and expected it to take him further into the race and that will be it …. And if that’s being questioned, then so should the Victorian stewards question Kerryn […]
The draw has thrown the Miracle Mile wide open according to the bookies, resulting in something most of us never thought we would see again, Leap To Fame backable at black odds. I don’t quite understand it myself. Larry is the greatest pacer that have ever seen in Australia, better than Popular Alm, better than […]
I have been following harness racing obsessively for half a century, and in all that time I have never seen a trainer so dominant as Emma Stewart is right now. What she is achieving with her stable is so extraordinary that it would almost defy belief if only you hadn’t seen it with your own […]
By Merv from Middle Swan Pearl from Pinjarra was left….well….clutching her pearls, after the running of the $50,000 Pinjarra Cup on Monday Afternoon. When the field came out, premier trainer Justin Prentice had 3 runners engaged up against the reigning champ Minstrel, a renowned and tough stayer with a fantastic record over the long journey, […]
Paul Tonkin (no relation to Peter or Clayton) is a small-time trot trainer from Victoria who from time to time crosses the border to race his tiny team at Wagga in New South Wales. Tonkin suffers from chronic pain resulting from injuries he suffered in a car accident some years ago, and is dependent on […]
We texted Anthony Butt on Saturday morning to wish him luck and a safe trip on Tact McLeod in the Cordina Sprint, and to tell him I had a feeling that tonight he was about to remind us of his genius. (Keith from QLD had put the idea in my head the night before when, […]
Yesterday’s Boort Pacing Cup was a very weird race, both during and after. Collective Works, who was first past the post, lost the race on protest to second placed Lincoln River, who became the official winner. Then, after the protest was decided, Collective Works was disqualified from the race completely, and all placegetters were promoted […]
The whisper from the QRIC’s Breakfast Creek bunker is that the QLD gallops Chief Steward Josh Adams and a local Brisbane company are working together on technology that will assist with protest hearings. Made using real-time positional data technology, similar to ball tracker, the new software will be able to tell stewards everything: the direction […]
Archie I appreciate a lot of your work, but from the perspective of a former driver, nowhere near the calibre of Nathan Dawson, I’d ask you to rewatch the race and question why stewards are wasting time and money on this. At the time they asked why he didn’t move three wide they were going […]
Hi Archie, For many of the run of the mill breeders, the Perth APG Sale was a disaster. Of course, the blue bloods sold well to the blue blood owners who threw plenty of money around as they usually do, chasing the sales series cash as they have done for years. But some breeders took […]
