Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Archie playing with the clowns this week at the Port Douglas Carnivale – It might well have been in Rocky where he lived 25 years ago, where he watched Cath Freeman win the 400m at the Sydney Olympics and in whose Mater Hospital his baby daughter was born. The clowns have always been in charge of […]
John Zielke was one upon a time the premier trainer of 2YO’s in QLD, back in the days when he used to be in charge of Evan Hartley’s horses. It all seems so long ago not. Zielkie is what the Kiwi call a waka jumper, a bloke who instead of committing himself to something long […]
Hi PP, I read your Captain Ahab article with interest and agree. To be fair though, King of Swing’s stats have been far more underwhelming for the hype and beat up he was given. Plenty of people that were telling all and sundry how good the quality of his progeny were looking —— well, they […]
Cracker of an original painting by Maggie, available for just $200 if you want to buy it You can say or think what you like about Tim Mander, and many are at present, but I reckon that fundamentally he is a decent bloke, not withstanding his obvious infidelity, which I am led to believe was […]
Earlier in the week we wrote an article rubbishing Racing QLD’s decision to defer Wednesday’s scheduled race meeting at Ipswich by 24 hours until today, and suggested that the meeting was little chance of going ahead. The whaling voyage of the Pequod ends up as a hunt for revenge on the whale, as Ahab forces the crew members to support his fanatical mission. When Moby Dick is finally sighted, Ahab’s hatred […]
The problems with the Callaghan Park, Rockhampton track clearly continue. At 8.08am this morning the track condition was published on the Racing Australia website (RISA) as being a Good 4, which is what you would expect given that it hasn’t rained a drop in Rocky all week, the sun is shining brightly and it’s 25 […]
You have to love the APG’s paid advertising posing as news on the Harness Racing Australia website don’t you? Not. HRA claims that the lot they have up for auction in their Autumn mixed sale Le Betty is one of Tasmania’s best race mares. If that were actually true it would be scary. Le Betty […]
Harness Racing New Zealand has just announced the erasure of 15 of the 1o2 race meetings in the North Island from the annual calendar. Auckland has lost 5 of its 46 meetings or more than 10 percent, leaving it as major metropolitan track that only races 41 times a year. Or in other words a […]
Hi Archie Just finished reading my morning’s news regarding Q and the tracks. You’ve listed the injuries in the past few days. Go back for months, you will see over and over back muscle injuries. This is a career ending injury, they never come back from it. The giveaway if not actually described is the […]
