Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Wayne Hawkes reckons J-Mac went too early on Romantic Warrior in the Saudi Cup and got it beaten. “He slaughtered it!” Hawkes claims. It’s a fine line between genius and butcher. Who would have thought any horse could lift again like Forever Young did? But still it’s hard to disagree. It’s also hard to agree […]
What you see at the top was a post published by Cairns Jockey Club (CJC) committee member David Robertson on his personal Instragram account. It is grossly sexist and a highly offensive case of body shaming a woman because of her size. That type of behavior is unacceptable in any realm of society, and is […]
This is an observation only, although it was shared by a number of people who attended the Nutrien yearling sale yesterday. A number of the lots on offer – particularly those prepared or offered by former APG executive Dean Baring – looked doped. By doped we mean sedated. Many of these lots were paraded around […]
90 horses went through the auction ring at yesterday’s Nutrien Sunshine Stars sales (91 if you count Dean Barings disappeared Lot 90 filly). Only 50 of the 90 (or 91) were sold. That’s a clearance rate of just over 50%. Meaning almost half of the yearlings went home with their breeder. I always thought sales […]
Lot 90 was sent into the sale ring at yesterday’s Nutrien Sunshine Stars auction. The filly attracted bids up to $8 000 but didn’t reach its reserve. Then it disappeared. There are a million ways for a punter to lose their money. Here is yet another one. This is race 7 at Alexandra Park on Friday night and the horse we are watching is Run Forrest Run. It has had a comfortable sit three back in the running line in a weak race, and when […]

What a wonderful success the Ultimate Drivers Championship was on every level. The crowds came back to Albion Park, the series gained free publicity around the world, and the buzz around the UDC was palpable. This was reflected in the most important statistic of all, the betting turnover. For the sake of the exercise we […]

You can get $7.50 about the greyhound on almost every corporate, and $10.00 on Betfair. D’oh! A ring a ding ding, Gilly’s the promo unders […]
