Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Duck shoving is an Australian and New Zealand term for evading responsibility, passing the buck, or acting unscrupulously to avoid blame. It often refers to bureaucratic or political maneuvering to avoid accountability. A game of duck shoving has already begun in the Beef Capital, as people attempt to forward maneuver avoiding blame for the debacle […]
Watch the horse drawn 2 on the front in the pink and blue with the white cap. See it gallop like a mad thing? It keeps galloping and finished tailed out 263m last. The horse is Our Spitfire. The same horse that Ted wrote about last week. That one who galloped wildly for a lap […]
In our previous story we wrote that long serving track foreman Rob Burnell was mentoring the new Callaghan Park track manager Kent Lean. We based that on publicly available material, most of it published by the Rockhampton Jockey Club. Since then we have been informed that Rob Burnell resigned from his employment with the club […]
So the Rockhampton Jockey Club is once again blaming a sprinkler malfunction for the track being unsafe to race today for the Archer meeting. Yeah good. No doubt they will once again dive into the junk pile in the shed and pull out an old disused rusted valve like they did last time and blame […]
Today’s cancelled Archer meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday. So what happens now? Do the trainers stay up in Rocky for two more days or go home? If they stay will Racing QLD or the race club pay their accommodation and expenses? Should they choose to fly home to attend to their stables and then […]
I am not blaming individuals on the Rocky Jockey Club track staff for the failure to prepare a race ready surface for today’s meeting, for they didn’t appoint themselves. But you have to ask some major questions of the people that did, and of those who had responsibility for mentoring them and supervising and inspecting […]
A picture tells a thousand words. So this one of QRIC Chief Steward Josh Adams walking the track just before abandoning the Archer meeting today says it all. I’ve just spoken to two highly regarded professional track walkers and two jockeys who walk them twice a week before meetings, and none of them have ever […]
The biggest meeting of the year in Rockhampton featuring the million dollar Archer, to which people have travelled from all over Queensland and Australia to attend, has been abandoned before the first race was even run. It wasn’t rain, for it is weather fine and track good. At least that was the official rating. It’s […]
Aldebaranstilinski is full of trot, and he jogs in – Albion Park race caller Chris Barsby Chris Barsby had it spot on. Aldebaranstilinski was full of trot, and he did jog in when winning race 7 at the Creek last night. In doing so the Mitchell Dawson trained/Nathan Dawson driven trotter ran 1.54.8, improving its […]
We wrote last week about the major form and time improvement of a mare named Sally Bigtime, in a race that I am quite certain was a boatie. Sally is trained by Tom Callaghan, who holds a restricted license that only permits him to train horses that he or his close family members own, unless […]
