Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Those of us watching the first race at Doomben live yesterday saw the $4.60 third favorite in the betting Crazy Eights go down in the stalls at the start, and expected it to be backed out and vet checked. Race caller David Fowler obviously did too. But the horse wasn’t pulled out of the gates […]
Australia’s favorite punter David ‘Baldy Frolley’ has been to almost every race track in Australia, and declares that he will do them all before he dies, which gives him plenty of time to make it. But he will have to do it in new wheels. You see sadly Baldy’s old chariot carked it just before […]
Bart Sinclair rocked up to Doomben yesterday, as he does, and went to go up the escalator to the Chairman’s room. The bloke in the uniform in the picture is a security guard, employed or contracted by the BRC. They obviously didn’t train him pr0perly. Or maybe they did. Bart didn’t have his top shelf […]
Sinclair, in covering some 25 Melbourne Cups, derived particular satisfaction from the victories by the likes of Michael Rodd, “Mick” Dittman, Chris Munce and Glen Boss, a group that cut their teeth in Brisbane. He has also attended a Kentucky Derby, the inaugural World Cup in Dubai and, as a moderator, Asian Racing Conferences in […]
Story by Theophilus, the friend of God Christmas is a season where hearts draw closer, where laughter fills rooms, and where love is felt most deeply — and Mary Fowler and Nathan Cleary’s second Christmas photo captured all of that and more. This time, it wasn’t just a snapshot of two stars in love, but […]
Jockey Daniel Moor was hauled into the Stewards room after race 2 at Eagle Farm and had his ride on the 2nd favorite Iconify questioned. I am buggered if I know why. Iconify is the horse in the pink and blue, one out and one back. Tell me if you can what was wrong with […]
Racing QLD yesterday published a story extolling ‘Jimmy’, the seemingly somewhat eccentric harness racing supporter who bowls up to tracks dressed like a loon and carrying signs supporting certain trainers and drivers. Good on Jimmy if that is how he gets his kicks. We are just wondering if RQ did any background checks on Jimmy […]
By Jordan Gerrans A loud and proud harness racing fan with a painted face and personalised signs is fast becoming a favourite within the driving ranks in the Sunshine State. The man known as Jimmy has become a regular at Albion Park and Redcliffe over the last year or so. He is often seen cheering […]
The betting has opened on the Geelong Cup and Minos is the early $1.85 favorite on the TAB, probably because gun reinsman James Herberton has been declared its driver. But Houston, we have a problem. Herbie is not driving at Geelong on Saturday night, he is driving at Globe Derby in the Australian Drivers Championship. […]
Just take a look at these ‘starts’ at Gloucester Park last night. They aren’t starts. They’re a joke. The horses on the front line haven’t scored up properly. Those drawn the inside are up on the gate, the ones drawn to their outer aren’t. They are supposed to be. None of these races were started […]
