Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Race 1 at Cranbourne last night. Chogi is the longs odds on fave. It blows out the door from $1.45 to $1.95. Flowertop Mountain is backed from $6.00 into $3.70. Sir Chow firms from $15 into $8.50. Someone knew. They run the quinella. Kate Gath drives Chogi as if it’s Chokin. She gives it no […]
Melanie started her training career after a three-month apprenticeship under Lou Pena in Pennsylvania last year and had her first winner at Newcastle on January 9 with Days End. Melanie Elder is Darren Elder’s daughter, and Brad Elder’s sister. Lou Pena is Lou Pena. He used to be a leading trot trainer. Used to be. I’m not […]
“As an old net withers, another is remade.” – Maori Proverb That one is right. But when it comes to rugby, the one below is wrong. The days of Chiefs coaching All Blacks teams are over. It’s up to the Crusader to come and save his country. Scott Robertson. Now is your time.
https://www-harness-org-au.akamaized.net/nsw/PCM27082208.mp4 When the 15 time Group 1 winner Anton Golino was training the trotter Parisian Artiste it couldn’t go a yard. The horse had 14 starts for him without cracking a win, and ran just 3 placings. Toward the end it was getting beaten in Maidens at Ararat. Yabby Dam Farms sold the gelding as […]
New Zealand is in mourning. Michael Cheika’s Pumas have just towelled them up on Kiwi rugby’s spiritual ground. He was an okay assistant coach to Steve Hansen, but his head coach record in Super […]
https://www-harness-org-au.akamaized.net/nsw/PCM27082202.mp4 You will not be able to see this at full speed, I betcha, no matter how many times you try. The NSW Stewards didn’t, or can’t. What I am about to show you is the fine art of cheating in Group 1 races, as practiced by Nathan Jack. Nathan thinks I am an imbecile. […]
Ever since the Menangle track was built there have been an army of critics who claim that it needed/needs a sprint lane. I have never worn that uniform, or fought on that side. It’s a 1400m track. No sprint lane is required, just patience and driving skill. A little bit of Luke McCarthy in front […]
George Gregan’s demolition of the Kiwi batsman/bowler cum flying winger Jeff Wilson in the 1994 Bledisloe Cup at the Sydney Football. Stadium is known far and wide as a the tackle of the 20th century. THAT tackle. Well now there is this one by Marika Koroibete. THIS tackle. The try saving tackle of the 21st […]
There were three judges in the box at Eagle Farm yesterday, which you would have thought was plenty to make sure that they got the photo finishes right, especially with the aid of modern digital technology that if calibrated properly could do their job for them. The equipment worked fine, it was the people who […]
We were pretty ordinary on the tip last night. The two short priced certainties at Melton at Albion Park won, but our even money shot Rock N Roll Doo bombed the start, pulled like a train, acted like a pig, his driver went too early and thus left him a sitting shot, and he was […]
