Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
I will come straight out and say it. It looks to me that Harness driver Tom Callaghan cheated in race 3 at Albion Park on Saturday night. Cheated in a most egregious way. Callaghan deliberately steered his drive, the odds on favorite Major Hot, out off a straight line in the straight so he could […]
Colin McDowell celebrates his Breeders Blue win with a feed Have you ever heard of the standardbred sire Lord Zin Zan? No? Me either. That’s because in five years at stud he has only ever served 12 mares who have produced just nine live foals. His runner to winner record is alright though, for four […]
The Queensland crew descended on Menangle last night with high hopes of winning one of the big ones. Grant Dixon had three in The Eureka; Fate Awaits, Path To Greatness and Call To Order. Pete McMullen had Attachment in the Stockade and The Janitor in the Len Smith Mile; and Shannon Price brought Sure Thing […]
Luck’s a fortune in the yearling buying game, as last nights Eureka result proved. There were 11 yearlings sold for $105 000 or more at the 2022 yearling sales. Eureka winner Bay Of Biscay was one of them, topping the Sydney sale at a price of $150 000. That investment has now multiplied many times, […]

Remember Jason Grimson’s mate Justin Downey, the bloke who in our stories we call Tatts? This is him. Downey’s wife is alleged to have sold more than 600g – over half a kilogram – of meth in just 3 days. She got bail. He didn’t. Oh dear. The net closes in. EXCLUSIVE – ELIZA BARR, […]
Victorian trainer Rhonda Mangan was on Facebook yesterday bemoaning the fact that owners won’t give her horses even though she sends out updates on their horses 2-3 times a week, saying that instead they prefer to send their gallopers to big trainers whose communication is nowhere near as good. That’s Mangan’s story and she is […]
Anyone watching the last race at Mackay on Thursday afternoon could see that something catastrophic had happened to the Phillip Pengelly trained Thunder Mania, which was pulled up at around the 700m mark after clearly going amiss. The horse had been sweating up like a pig before the race, which was unusual for it (my […]
