Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
That Queensland has a severe shortage of jockeys is well known to all by now. All except the people whose job it is to know, they being Racing Queensland and the QRIC. There are never more than about 6 or 7 jocks that ride at Mt Isa. So RQ schedule a race with 12 declared […]
Northview Hustler is an 8-year-old Open Class pacer who coming into Friday’s return to Albion Park after the floods meeting had won ten races in Australia. Eight have them had been when he had led, and the other two had come when he sat behind the leader and used the sprint lane. He had never, […]
Ben ‘Chainsaw’ Yole won 4 of the 8 races at the Hobart trots last night. It was no surprise given that he trained more than 2/3rds of the runners on the card. How the hell could a half-smart punter possibly have a bet on a program like this? It’s ripe for race fixing, and race […]
Everyone’s talking about Glen Boss’s announcement that he’s becoming a trot driver. “I want to win the Hunters Cup” Bossy told Adam Hamilton with a straight face, clearly ignorant of the fact that it’s called the Hunter Cup. Kate Gath played along too, perhaps a bit too far. Bossy was filmed driving one of her […]
Following the shock announcement that Ali Wade, the Director of Stewarding and Licensing at the QRIC, has been made redundant as part of a broom sweeping exercise by the new Commissioner Shane Gillard, it seems there may be further changes afoot at the top of the organisation. Rumours are that a certain senior executive with […]
Are the Harness Racing Victoria Stewards for real? A Kiwi pacer having its first start for Alex Ashwood rears and the start and falls, crashing heavily to the ground. The vet inspects the horse and declares it unfit to run. While he is removing the harness from the horse Ashwood – a coward with well […]
Friday night is Alexandra Park’s big night, the main metropolitan meeting of the week; the showcase if you will. That’s what makes this so bad. There are just six races on tonight’s card. Three are them are for trotters: one for maidens, one for horses that have won only 1 race, and the other for […]
I found this story on a really interesting website called Weekend Kings. They wrote it not me. I highly recommend taking a look at it, for there are some great stories there about racing. Mick Dittman was one of Australia’s most successful jockeys during his career, but the Queenslander always had a secret urge to […]
We told you yesterday the story about Melbourne Mick, and how Curly Seal’s bookmaking outfit BetBarn had ripped him off by not refunding his quaddie investment as required under the rules when his anchor leg runner was late scratched. Well it appears Curly or his managers read peterprofit.com, for yesterday morning shortly after publication of […]
We told you about McCrikey’s win in the 10th at the Addington trots on Friday night, the race in which clearly went inside the marker pegs, and the Stewards lodged a protest which the Racing Integrity Board (RIB) adjudicator dismissed. The published RIB decision has now been released, and in our view it highlights a […]
