Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
We have heard a lot in recent weeks about the inducements offered by corporate bookies to punters to get them to bet, and quite rightly so because some of the cherries offered which I have personally experienced (the former) or witnessed (the latter) like drugs and sex workers are both immoral and illegal. But while […]
Don’t ever throw away or lose your winning TAB ticket. Not if you want to recover the money you have won on the ticket quickly and easily anyway, for the process is tortuous, as one of our readers has recently discovered. Firstly you can’t lodge a lost ticket claim online, even though you can do […]
I was watching the NZ Trackside coverage of the trots using the VPN on Friday night, and was shocked to see popular presenter Greg O’Connor waxing lyrical in praise of the wholesale cuts to prizemoney. Trackside brought all the major races up on screen, and had all the rich slot races gone and two new […]
Hi Archie, I reckon we can make it odds on that whoever gets the integrity job will have an alignment with Board Chairman and overnight greyhound industry expert Matt McGrath. You may have a differing view, but IMO governance and independence are worth keeping a very close eye on wherever McGrath is involved. Might be […]
Jumps jockey Steven Pateman was handed a 16 heavyweight and jumps race suspension for careless riding leading to a fall in which the jockey in the white silks Aaron Lynch fell and broke his scapula in the race above at Warrnambool. You can’t see the fall because the Stewards edited the film to avoid showing […]
Shape Shifter – A term used in literature to describe a duplicitous character who changes their behavior or loyalties depending on the situation. This is race 4 at Albion Park on Saturday night. It is the odds on favorite, and has been backed from $2.30 into $1.85. The 7 Golden Fire has blown out from […]
Shape Shifter – A term used in literature to describe a duplicitous character who changes their behavior or loyalties depending on the situation. Grimson does it again. We are at Albion Park race 7 now. Grimson drives the leader Our Sunset Delight. Peter ‘Noddy’ McMullen is behind him on the fence about Rakasandy. The same […]
What I have reproduced below is a missive from Gary Chittick about the Project Stamina team report and recommendations for the reform of New Zealand racing. Like most things that Chittick writes, it is well worth a read. ————————————- It would appear I now have to continue my weekly Corner with the amount of rumblings at the […]
JD Hayes and Dakotah Keane, pictured above at last night’s Victorian Racing Awards I am a bit confused. I’m quite sure that I saw jockey Dakotah Keane out one night arm in arm with one of the Hayes boys when I was down on one my regular racing trips to Melbourne, not sure which, or […]
Number 11 in the red colors breaks down horribly in this race at Kembla Grange yesterday. It suffered a catastrophic bilateral sesamoid fracture and had to be euthanised, or put down or killed. We are not telling you this to sicken you, or because we get a thrill out of the horrific or grotesque. The […]
