Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Brad Hewitt must have felt like the Canberra Raiders at Menangle yesterday afternoon. First his unbeaten youngster Hollywood Strip breaks the Australian 2-year-old record by stopping the clock at 1.49.9 and becoming the first juvenile in this country to go sub-1.50. Then they go to the bunker and the new record is overturned, with the […]
Watch the horse in the yellow and white, in front on the rail as the film rolls. It’s driver Will Rixon pulls it off the fence to let Cameron Hart behind him in the blue and gold through. Then Rixon turns and looks, and sees that Hart doesn’t quite have enough room to get up […]
Ron Dufficy tells it like it is about the Makybe Diva Stakes. The way it was run brought shame to the great mare’s name.
Yet one more Queensland rider has been done for submitting a dodgy Health Assessment Report. It was apprentice Rob Thorburn this time. Thorburn changed the dates on his 2023/34 report and held it out to be the valid 2025/26 assessment. He dobbed himself in as soon as the QJA sent out their circular advising jockeys […]
Another Queensland jockey has been stood down from riding. It’s apprentice Mitch Goring this time. We don’t know at this stage the reason why, but judging by recent events it will be either a positive test result or, more likely, a doctored Health Assessment Report. These errant jockeys are giving the integrity officials a lot […]
Some recent carry on by heavyweight corporate bookmaker Sportsbet are a reminder to punters that you can’t put blind trust in your bookie, and that you always need to know the rules of the market that you are betting into to. The travails of a reader of ours who we will call Percy Punter to […]
Here is another jockey who has allowed themselves to be recorded ingesting what appears to be, and in my experience and opinion is highly likely to be, cocaine. This time it is rider Casey Waddell. We are led to believe the video was taken at or around the same time as the video of Amy […]
Whoever said that modern day harness race driving wasn’t a young person’s game is either delusional or a liar. 26-year-old Cameron Hart drove six winners at Menangle last night. Across the border at Melton 25-year-old James Herbertson landed five winners. Up in Brisbane 29-year-old Nathan Dawson scored four. Gone are the days of the likes […]
After a by his own standards relatively quiet winter, Jason Grimson has returned to peak form with a bang. Four out of four he won, including three of the four heats of the Carousel, and the Free For All Listed Classic. Look out for Swayzee next start is all I can say. The way Grimson […]
The QRIC Stewards were quick to act after becoming aware of the video recording we published this morning of jockey Amy Graham snorting what appears to be cocaine. Not only did they drug test Graham today at the races, the Stewards went so far as to stand her down from riding pending an inquiry into […]
