Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
We all love Warnie, but it doesn’t mean we should try to get plugs like him. Or like Greg Matthews. Peter V’Landys looks he has tried to better both, Good try son. But in the words of the great man Gus, no, no, no, no, no. Now you have to pay for hair […]
The TAB used to offer bonus bets up to $50 on the main metro meetings if your selection ran 2nd or 3rd. Now is offering ten bucks or twenty, the latter on one of the minor tier meetings rather than the Group 1 cards. Times must be tough if this is the best they can […]
Like many racing fans, I got sucked into Cruiserweight and thought he was a real horse of the future. We were all kidding ourselves, just like the Doctor (aka the Nude Tipster) said at the time. A couple of low grade wins in winter doth not a Group horse make. Cruiserweight is a cat. A […]
A new horse makes its debut for the Jason Grimson stable tonight. Serg Blanco is its name. Like most of the Grimson stable it is an older pacer who has been plenty of places before. At its past 4 starts Serg Blanco has: won an NR65 and up at Mildura finished 3rd in a race […]
Simon Marshall is proudly sporting his oversized Hawthorn scarf on racing.com today. He is embarrassing himself as much as the Caulfield track manager is. Ever seen a hawk beat a lion in a fight? I don’t think so. Lions eat hawks. Swallow them whole. They will devour Simon Marshall’s idiotic scarf too. All for one, […]
“Since I joined the Melbourne Racing Club, improving the performance of our tracks has been a clear priority. Our objective is to ensure MRC racecourses deliver among the best track surfaces in Australia, underpinned by strong internal leadership and external best-practice expertise.” – Tanya Fullarto, CEO Melbourne Racing Club Well if the MRC’s objective was […]
To call what Tony and Calvin McEvoy are doing with their French import Yellow Jersey on Saturday unorthodox is an understatement. They are dropping their Cox Plate hopeful who went horrible first up back from 1700m to 1400m. And at the same time stepping the frog up from a Listed to a Group 1. It’s […]
Peter V’Landys will be the NRL CEO by the end of the weekend. Was there ever any doubt that he would? Who else would you want but he? The self-interested fools in NSW racing will long regret letting PVL go. Rugby league fans will love him forever. Australia is the greatest country in the word. […]
It’s impossible to tell here what went on in the final stages of race 4 at Doomben on Wednesday. Obviously the horse in the orange burst through the middle and nutted the leader on the line. But the rider of the second horse Daniel Moor lodges a protest, claiming that apprentice Montana Philpott on the […]
Racing Australia has bowed to the long inevitable, and is going to outlaw jockeys use of spurs. Spurs are getting banned. It’s sort of apropos of nothing, for spurs is a misnomer. They’ve been blunt for years. The ones that are about to be outlawed look like this. Sure they probably hurt a horse a […]
