Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Victorian trot driver Aaron Dunn is a cowboy. Last month in the Mildura Cup he cut his horse Forty Love across from the deep on the first turn and all but wiped out half the field. Five horses copped severe interference as a result of his actions, including the first and second favorites, and it […]
Big ups to young apprentice Hyeontaek Oh (pictured), who recently rode his first career winner at just his second race ride. Apparently Oh is a real nice kid and a very hard worker, so his success is well deserved. He looks to have a very bright future ahead. Congratulations too to our reader and correspondent […]
Greetings Rev. Archibald Jeebung Butterfly, Here’s a milestone worth celebrating: it’s now been 4 years since you officially became an ordained minister! We opened this message talking about milestones, and we use that term for a reason. A milestone marks an important point on a larger journey, not the conclusion of a journey. Similarly, the […]
Insider Trading? Is it true that after a spate of positive swabs being thrown by horses in the supposedly secure retention barn facility at Menangle used to house runners in big races for two days before they compete, Club Menangle and HRNSW have given up on using the facility and rented it out as stable […]
Excite Me is one of the weakest horses in Western Australia. It hasn’t won a race since November last year, and has managed just 3 placings from its 18 starts since. In several of those 18 starts it has led and collapsed, mainly because its a cat with the heart of a pea. Crazy gamblers […]

That being the case, why were he and HRNZ racing manager spending the weekend together in Invercargill on the weekend with all their not inconsiderable accommodation, travel, food and drink bills being paid for on […]
You would think that one of the main ideas of race programming would be to attract the largest crowd possible to the track wouldn’t you? You would be wrong. The NSW town of Goulburn has a population of about 25 000. Like in other towns the percentage of people willing to go to the races […]
I have heard some pretty ordinary calls in my time, and this one in Saturday’s Dalby Cup is right up there with the worst of them. The bloke in the box calls Koruto the winner, and does so with an air of authority. It didn’t win. Koruto is the horse in the orange and green […]
Hello Archie On your story re no longer betting on Harness racing apart from major /group 1 races, I totally share your thoughts. I follow Victorian and SA harness racing and I am done with South Australia. I have been banging on about the lack of professionalism or corruption over there for years now, and […]
