Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Dreams Are Free has to be one 0f the best bred young pacers running around on both sides of the ditch. By the champion US sire Captain Treacherous out of Start Dreaming, a mare who ran 2nd to the champion The Orange Agent, won a G2 Robin Dundee at Menangle, and threw the superstar juvenile […]
So much for Tasmania’s announced intention to implement new policies preventing any single trainer – specifically Ben Yole – from having more than half the field in a race. It appears to have gone the way of the dodo, probably the same dodo who wrote the policy replete with loopholes that you could drive a […]
One of the more interesting matters coming out of Randwick yesterday was the scratching of three James Cummings trained 2yo’s from the first race, leaving it with a field of just 7, a number that it is well known has a substantial negative effect on wagering turnover. It turned out that none of the trio […]
Mark Zahra’s $50 000 fine and 7 meeting suspension for striking Without A Fight with the whip 9 times prior to the 100m mark in the Caulfield Cup is the 2nd most severe penalty that I can ever remember being handed down to a rider for breaching the whip rule, behind only Kerrin McEvoy’s massive […]
In one of those stories that sound too strange to be true, a range of imported Kiwi produced horse feed sold by Hygain called Fiber Fresh has been recalled from the shelves after dead hedgehogs were found in the product. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) ordered the feed to be taken off […]

After what happened […]
Mark Zahra’s decision to serve the 7-meeting suspension handed to him for breaking the whip rules in the Caulfield Cup between Cox Plate and Derby Day, allowing him to ride at both, simply goes to illustrate how bloody stupid the Australian suspension rules truly are. Now those who can count will realise that there are […]
Top flight heavyweight Brisbane jockey Brad Stewart was forced to retire from the saddle earlier this year due to serious injuries that he had suffered in a freak accident in the tie up stalls, when a horse went crazy and somersaulted on top of him, breaking Stewart’s pelvis in 4 places. It was a terrible […]
Trainer/driver Michael Stanley absolutely and utterly slaughtered the odds on favourite Rock N Roll Doo in last night’s Geelong Cup. What the hell was he thinking and doing? Nothing and nothing it appeared. First he decides to ease the fast beginner Doo off the arm at the start from gate 3. WTF? This is a […]
This is the 5th race at Addington last night. Keep your eyes on the horse in the green and white 4 back the fence. Watch closely it’s inside wheel. Driver Bob Butt clearly breached the rules here, and his horse KD Hawk should have been disqualified from its placing in the race and he should […]
