Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
A bloke I know wanted to have some loose change in his Bet365 account the place on his mate’s horse LL Cool J at the trots so that he could have a token interest while watching and cheering it home. LL Cool J’s place price was $2.15, in a race in which they were only […]
Hi Archie Get a load of this for a “workout” last 50 meters Dylan Ferguson with the whip. Bloke is a shocker, constantly getting suspended for the whip use. I think he needs to find another hobby to let his anger out! What do you think? Aaron from Aorangi Editor’s note I reckon Dylan Ferguson […]
It seems rather harsh asking this question given that the margin was only a pimple, but skilled jockeys know the difference between a walrus and a whisket, and Nathan Day’s no slug. It appeared to me that down the straight Day looked perfectly content to run second, and got somewhat of a shock when his […]
On Friday night it was Leap To Fame who went down at unbackable odds of $1.04, last night it was Swayzee who got beaten at$1.08. Both red hot faves went down for the same reason. They went too slow early with a devastating finisher glued to their back, allowing the horse behind them to keep […]
We have written a lot about the failings of the Tasmanian harness stewards, but the officials at the trots are not alone. The gallops Stewards are pretty bad too. The Chief Steward Mr Bruce Free leads the way. Mr Free is best remembered as the integrity official who inspected the bullring at greyhound trainer Anthony […]
Yesterday Harness Racing NSW finally acted, and pulled Turbo’s license. Well provisionally suspended it to be precise. A thorn by any other name is still a thorn. Turbo is out for a spell. The hot whisper is that when his real penalty for throwing 2 positives to Levamisole is handed down Jack Trainor’s going to […]
I wrote last year that if Leap To Fame had just one flaw it was that while he can reel off a quartet of sub 28 second quarters that crush his rivals into the ground, history had proven that he couldn’t run his final quarter under race conditions in any faster than about 26 1/2 […]
The trick to working out sectional times is not to take them at their published value, because some horses in a race cover more ground than others by sitting one off the fence in the death or running line, or coming home wide like bad draws in when in Melbourne so often forced District Attorney […]
Jason Grimson didn’t make District Attorney run any faster. The horse could always go fast, and had proven it 3 times in his last 4 runs at Melton when he went his last splits in 26.02, 25.88 and 25.72. Grimson didn’t need to do much at all with him. All District Attorney needed to beat […]
One of the key recommendations contained in the yet to be public released report of the review into QRIC’s operations is that responsibility for the Greyhounds Adopotion Program (GAP) should be transferred away from QRIC and over to the control of Racing Queensland. The Government is set to adopt the recommendation and make the move. […]
