Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
You would think that a driver of Inter Dominion Trot winner Greg Sugars stature would be good enough to hook a horse without it being so obvious that the whole world could see it, but you’d be wrong. Look what Sugars does here tonight in race 1 at Bendigo on the favourite. Sugars is in […]
Hot off the press this afternoon is news that Nathan Jack has won his license back. Quite peculiarly, given that he is one of the nation’s most skilled drivers, a condition has been placed on his new license that Jack has to drive in 15 trials prior to him starting driving in races again. Anyone […]
VICTORIAN horse racing’s new corruption watchdog has vehemently denied having accepted cash from a convicted drug dealer to do private detective work, saying the allegations are part of a malicious campaign to destroy his reputation and force him out of the industry. Former detective Dayle Brown, chosen last week to head Racing Victoria’s integrity services […]
Well, well, well. Look at this. Peter Lamb is the name you are looking at, the starter at Melton. Lamb is the man who got sacked in New Zealand for hooking the start of last year’s NZ Trotting Cup, the one in which his mate Mark Purdon’s horse Self Assured got a flying start from […]
Dr NAPTHINE (South-West Coast) — My question without notice is to the Minister for Racing, and I ask: can the minister confirm that the newly appointed general manager, integrity services, with Racing Victoria, Mr Dayle Brown, was investigated and disciplined for misuse of his Victoria Police identification in South Australia when he was on a […]

The statistical sample size is far too small to be scientific, and no doubt it is just sheer coincidence and the time of year, but the odd correlation between HRV Integrity Chief Brent Fisher’s departure from the role and the Emma Stewart stable’s loss of form has set tongues wagging around the Victorian tracks. Fisher […]
This matter involves a harness racing licensee, but is not directly harness racing related. As I say, not directly. It doesn’t mean that it isn’t though. I know what the subject matter is, which is the exact reason that I won’t be detailing it. One thing I will say is that this man should be […]
An eagle-eyed reader has just pointed out an error in my earlier story about David ‘Slasher’ Moran. Slasher didn’t just get done for whip abuse in Group 1 races seven and nine at Melton last Friday, he got fined for a whip offence in the Group 1 race six too, the Group 1 3YO Vicbred […]
By now you have read the stories I wrote about the orgy of whipping at Melton on Vicbred Super Series night, and are familiar with the tale of how leading senior driver David Moran belted the living crap out of two pacers in Group 1 races, won one and finished second, and only copped 2 […]
