Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
See that place dividend for the third horse on the QLD/SA/NT/TAS TAB? Have you ever seen one pay $930 the place in your life? I doubt it, because they don’t. It’s gimassive! Shame it’s a con. The minimum bet on the TAB is $1. The total place bet pool (before deduction of commissions) on this […]
I was talking to an encyclopedia of Australian racing and world breeding last night, and he told me about the day that Surround won the Cox Plate, and only minutes later the world turned black. It was a solar eclipse. I remember it. It was the biggest thing that had Geebung since the polo game. […]
Mafuta is Swahili for fat. Mafuta Vautin. Fatty Vautin. It’s a cracker, but there’s one thing Darrel didn’t know when he named it. Words have multiple meanings in the Swahili language. Mafuta also means anointed. The chosen one. Dreams. They can come true. Remember when Fatty’s boys won Origin? He was punting next to me […]
Under the Southern Cross I stand, a sprig of wattle in my hand, Green and Gold and blood maroon, the ID trophy is coming home! Wouldn’t you hate to be Darrel Graham right now. You’ve just spent half a million on legals to knock out a case that should never have been taken. You lost […]
I simply cannot believe it. Ride High has been withdrawn from the Inter Dominion. Why? Owner Peter Gleeson has been telling us for ages that the horse nicknamed Chainsaw was coming back. Trainer Clayton Tonkin told us too. Look. March 2021 July 2021 September 2021 How could they have been so wrong? Clayton wasn’t lying […]

South Australia aren’t real keen on enforcing the whip rules. In the absence of force, jockey Jacob Opperman isn’t overly interested in obeying them either. Take a look at this replay of the last at Morphetville yesterday. You know what it reminds me of? Mick Dittman on Gurner’s Lane in the Cup. Riders are not […]
Koalas are protected species in NSW. So is jockey Tommy Berry. Berry breaches the whip rules at almost every meeting that he rides. In fact over the past month he has broken the rules on average 1.6 times at every race meeting he has ridden. He gets away with it with impunity, which means scot […]
There were four TAB gallops meetings held in Queensland yesterday, at Caloundra, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba and Roma. So the QRIC employed its full resources and sent the Integrity Investigation Team to do surprise inspections at Gympie. It was time and money well spent, They caught one trainer who put mineral salted mud on its […]
It was only a couple of days ago that we told you about veteran driver John ‘the Russian’ Stariha being outed for a month for running crazy stupid sectional times on a leader in a race at Albion Park. Well he did it again in the last race last night. The Russian was driving It’s […]
