Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
A couple of weeks back we published an article questioning why the errant beginning QLD trotter Doug had not been excluded from standing starts after galloping in nine of his last ten, and issued a plaintive plea that he be so, forthwith. He wasn’t, not then anyway. Doug went back to the races twice, and […]
Was that debacle at Scone yesterday the worst day’s racing since the one the week before? Does PVL really have to inflict this sort of rubbish on us just so that he can keep his patron John Messara sweet by running a metro meeting at the bloke’s home track? Hasn’t V’Landys transcended that sort of […]
NZ Trot driver Ian Cameron was not real happy about the RIB’s interpretation of the whip rule after they charged him with breaching it the other day. Shove it up your arse he told them. Given some of the decisions over the last few days, is there a soul in the world who would disagree […]
Prior to the declaration of correct weight a protest was lodged by J Huxtable, the rider of second placegetter JUST GETS BETTER, alleging interference from the 600m onwards against the winner MAJORELLE. After taking evidence from all parties, it was established that after passing the 600m MAJORELLE shifted out and made contact with JUST GETS […]
I am not sure that I have ever in my whole life seen a bigger slaughter job in a Group 1 race than Opie Bosson’s disgraceful steer on the Kiwi mare Entriviere in yesterday’s Doomben 10 000. This guy rides the big Aussie races about as well as Ben Hunt catches kick offs in NRL […]
Opie Bosson’s steer in the 10 000 was terrible. Willie Pike’s ride on Written Beauty in the Bright Shadow was the polar opposite. It was pure genius. Just imagine that Willie had been on Entriviere in the big one. How far would it have won by?
On average, a well bred greyhound costs you no more than about five grand to buy as a pup. The average price of a thoroughbred yearling horse is around $120 000, twenty-four times what it costs to buy a dog. The richest gallops race in Queensland is the 2YO Magic Millions, which is worth $2 […]
Not only is Emma Stewart the greatest trot trainer ever to roam the earth, her partnership with formerly convicted and disqualified match cheat (overturned on appeal) sulky jockey Mark Pitt is the greatest trainer/driver combo in the long history of the harness racing sport. Together the pair have won 37 of their last 55 starts, […]
The 47 time winning open class pacer Mark Dennis had until last night held the 1800m track record at Globe Derby for five and a half years. He ran a mile rate of 1.53.5 in setting the mark. Encipher is a very, very talented 3-year-old filly trained by Emma Stewart. But she’s still a three-year-old […]
We don’t need to pay a Waterhouse a squillion dollars to find us a winning system on the punt, or anyone else for that matter. Winning at gambling is as simple as laying the odds on faves at Gloucester Park in WA on a Friday night. There were four tomato sauce jobs this week. Only […]
