Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Heez Our Perseus started at the prohibitive odds of $1.05 in the 2nd race at Gloucester Park on Friday night. Gary Hall Jr slaughtered it. It was a master class in how to get a long odds on favourite beaten, sheer genius in fact. The WA Stewards deemed that he was just unlucky, and blamed […]
Want to see a team driven race fix? Bridgetown in WA, wherever the hell that is, race 7. Trainer Ryan Bell has two in the race. One of them is Hillview Bondi, the favourite drawn in 1 that has blown from $1.12 to $1.25. Bell drives it. The other is number 6 Sound Wave, that […]
C.C. Chevron is a ten year old pacer, which is pretty old in racing terms. The aged gelding is also Australia’s most over-raced horse. In the past 52 weeks he has raced 62 times, which is a hell of a lot of racing in any person’s language. That’s one issue, but not the main one. […]
Poor Emily Suvaljko. She thought she was home 20 metres out from the finish of Perth’s richest and most prestigious race the WA Cup, and in a rush of premature excitement she turned to the camera and the stand and gave the world the raised whip twirl salute in celebration. You know what thought thought […]
There were six starters in race one at Gloucester Park last night. Donald Harper trained three of them. One was backed like there was no tomorrow. It was drawn 2, and lead easy. Its stablemate slipped into the death, and the other stablemate jagged its back in the 1-1. Game over. Except for one thing. […]
Silly Willie Pike will be finished as a jockey in his home State once the law kicks in, and many others in both codes will find themselves in the same basket. The vaccination status of his main stable, the leading training partnership Grant and Alana Williams, is unknown but the former pink and whites have […]
The track record holder for the 2536 metre trip at Gloucester Park is Vampiro, who ran a mile rate of a very fast 1.54.1 in setting it back in December of 2020. Vampiro’s lead time that night was 67.3 seconds. Minstrel gave the record a bit of a half nudge when he won the Group […]
Spot the Aussie. Then try and spot the West Aussie. Friday night’s $300 000 Fremantle Cup at Gloucester Park is a ripper of a race, an absolute bottler. It’s also a stark illustration of the current state of Western Australian harness racing. We often lament the situation in Tasmania where, operating under a business model […]
Some days are diamonds and some days are stones, and anyone who tells you they’ve got a certainty for you in a race is a drone. Just check out race 2 at Gloucester Park on Friday night if you need any proof. The $121 shot in betting Double Up is probably the first horse in […]
Chicago Bull didn’t win the Group 2 Pat Cranley memorial at Gloucester Park on Friday night – it was impossible to beat the Team Bond triple team drive when they sizzle home in 28.5, 28.2 and 27.4 to run a mile rate of 1.52.6 on the tight turning half mile track – but at his […]
