Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
As we showed you last night there is a push on from the WA BOTRA (Breeders, Owners, Trainers, Reinspersons Association) for the Gloucester Park track to be reconfigured as part of the sale deal that the club has put out to its members to vote on. BOTRA’s main claim is that the current configuration favours […]
What you see above is a story printed in yesterday’s WA’s main newspaper yesterday in which the Breeders Owners Trainers and Reinspersons Association (BOTRA) are critical of the Western Australian Trotting Association’s plans to redevelop its wholly owned asset Gloucester Park. Below is a letter sent to members by the WATA CEO Michael Radley in […]
The WA Stewards took just 7 pre-race swabs at Belmont yesterday. They were all in the same race. It was race 5. This race was just an ordinary affair with nothing special special about it, except for one thing. There were 8 starters. One of the horses didn’t get swabbed. It was the favourite Crescent […]
Factual background The following factual background sets out some relevant events and circumstances that have given rise to the Commission’s concerns that are not disputed; they are acknowledged by BetEasy. Gambler was a self-excluded customer of CrownBet, BetEasy’s predecessor. His self excluded status was known to BetEasy and BetEasy’s affiliates John Dow and Jamie Myers. […]
From the telephone discussion recordings between Dow and BetEasy staff, there is no doubt BetEasy was aware that: (a) the Account Holder (and her partner) had “two kids dying in hospital with a heart condition” and accordingly in a vulnerable position at the time; (b) the Account Holder’s partner was a permanently self-excluded gambler; and […]
Here are the WATA by-laws about selling club land at Gloucester Park Sale of Gloucester Park (1) Notwithstanding the Committee’s power to sell and dispose of any real or personal property of the Association, no part of the property known as “Gloucester Park” shall be sold or otherwise disposed of unless: (a) such sale or […]
Gee Gloucester Park is a beautiful race course. It’s one well worth preserving. During the month of August the Gloucester Park club has hosted 5 race meetings. There have 30 odds on favourites out of just 48 races on these cards. That means that 62.5% of all races held during the month have had a […]
We were highly critical of the WA Stewards report into race 1 at Gloucester Park on Tuesday night, and with good reason, for they has the winner as dropping out from the 600m mark and being issued a warning for performance, which is quite a novel concept. The mystery however is now solved. They had […]
The biggest plunge seen at the WA trots for a long time landed last night on race 7 at Gloucester Park. Rolling Fire was the horse’s name, and it was backed from $81 into $10. It should have been too. This race was a boatie. For the uninitiated, a boatie means the raced was fixed. […]
So without even looking at the betting records, or hauling the suspect drivers of the horses involved into the room and grilling them, the RWWA Stewards headed by the recent law graduate Chris Courtland (pictured above) decide that everything about the most blatant boat race in living memory run last night is all just tickety […]
