Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Those who were at Gatt9n on Thursday and witnessed the incident that could very nearly have cost apprentice jockey Emily Pomfrett her life tell a rather disturbing tale that makes you wonder about the humanity of some people. Apparently the incident occurred at a time when the runners should have been around at the barriers, […]
I have lost count of how long we have been telling you that copper cum trot trainer ‘Smoking’ Joe Connolly was red hot, but we have been right from the get go and continue to be correct now. This plod ain’t training straight and clean. That was evidenced once again in the 5th race at […]
There is some good news in a time of terror. Atherton trainer Roy Chillemi has been found. Roy’s gone on a long holiday back to the land of his birth, and has left his stable foreperson Louise Terzi (pictured above) in charge of operations as a trainer in her own right. We wish the young […]
A bloke with a nickname like Smoking Joe would simply have no be on fire wouldn’t he? After all, there is smoke without it is there? Fire I mean. Things have to be really hot to get you described as Smoking. Joe Connolly is on fire. He is copper. They’re in the line of it. […]
This sad obituary for horse trainer Paul Harris was posted yesterday on the official NZ Racing website. What it neglected to mention is that the poor soul Paul Harris hung himself. Whether his death was related to his ongoing battles with the Racing Integrity Board that sent him broke and ruined him is a matter […]
What has happened to famed Mareeba gallops trainer Roy Chillemi? The man from the tablelands who trains for major Cairns owner Tom Hedley hasn’t been seen at the track since the 7th of December, and all of the horses that he previously had now seem to be prepared by a little known Atherton trainer called […]
Gday Archie I quote the submissions tendered by Darren Weirs legal representative Ian Hill KC in a recent article you published. Editor’s note- this below Weir’s barrister, Ian Hill KC, said his client had offered to plead guilty nearly three years ago, but prosecutors rejected the offer and instead pursued conspiracy charges against Weir and […]
Weir would have to be DQed or warned off wouldn’t he? Who hasn’t been previously for using a jigger? Wallers description of Weir as “addicted to winning” is quite telling but not in the acceptable sense that Waller meant. Everyone enjoys a win, but win too frequently and celebrate too much and the dopamine reward […]
“Some circumstantial evidence is very strong, as when you find a trout in the milk” – Henry David Thoreau This is the full decision of the Victorian Racing Appeals Tribunal in the matter of the Emma Stewart stay. As we told you, the HRV integrity team have stuffed up. Emma might somehow get away with […]
I wonder what’s happened at Harness Racing Victoria that precipitated the giant backflip that has seen the integrity department reject the transfer of horses from Emma Stewart to her partner Clayton Tonkin, almost two weeks after the transfers happened and were approved? It certainly is a huge turnaround from when we first raised the issue […]
