Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Swayzee’s trainer Jason Grimson has announced that his horse will miss the Hunter Cup and the Miracle Mile, and be put away for a long, long spell. The cynics among us wonder if it will be forever. None of Grimson’s reborn slow pacers turned Group 1 winners ever seem to come up for 2nd or […]
Jason Grimson has built his public name as a trainer on taking used horses and turning them into stars. His reputation in harness racing circles is built on something else again. Seaton Grima is the new Grimson. Grima is getting previously ordinary horses from their former trainers and making them run as fast as Leap […]
There is serious mail sweeping the race tracks that the dream training partnership between Ciaron Maher and David Eustace may soon be coming to an end. It’s only a rumour at this stage, but all is said to be not well inside the camp, and that an announcement may be made before Christmas about the […]
Little known country NSW trainer Darren Egan has been disqualified for 2 years after pleading guilty to an array of sexual harassment offences perpetrated against 5 unnamed racing participants, presumably females. Egan, who has a 7% strike rate and hasn’t had a runner since July, was convicted of 5 racing rule charges related to his […]
Archie, you’ve raised basically the same questions I have about “poor Emma’s injustice”. Credit to her for pleading guilty, no doubt this got a discount of the two 6-month penalties being served cumulatively. But, after pleading guilty and copping a discount, she appeals the severity? With only a few weeks left to run Emma Stewart is a country mile in front on the Victorian State and Metro Premiership ladders, and a certainty to win both titles. But after her 6 month disqualification this week for race day treating 2 0f her runners bef0re a Group race, will she hold them? […]
Ben ‘Chainsaw’ Yole is making hay while the sun still shines until Ray Murrihy’s full report into his nefarious activities is publicly released, which surely can’t be too far away. Chainsaw won 5 of the 8 races on the card at Hobart last night, which wasn’t all too hard given that he trained most of […]
Veteran Southland trainer Phil Williamson has been having the best season of his life strike rate wise. Many have wondered how and why. Everyone wonders why healthy young seeming superstars suddenly drop dead in their emerging prime. Perhaps Einstein was right the whole time. E = MC 2.
When was the last time you saw a rating 63 class pacer that had won just 5 races from almost 50 starts framed at $6.00 fourth favourite in the pre-post market t0 win a Hunter Cup? Until today, how about never? That’s all changed now though, thanks to the Sir Jason Grimson factor. If the […]
Sir Jason Grimson has only been back in Sydney for less than a week, but it was plenty of time enough for him to pull off another of his famous miracles. Denis William hadn’t raced for a year and half since breaking down at Cranbourne in July 2022 when trained in Victoria by Simone Walker, […]
