Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Enhance Your Calm is a square gaiter that two years ago won the Harness Jewels when in the All Stars barn. He has won two Group 1’s (and run 2nd in another), a Group 2 and a Group 3. Less than 3 months ago he beat NZ’s two best trotters Sundees Son and Majestic Man […]
Self-Assured is a super horse. He ran 53.2 seconds for his last half, and a sizzling 25.7 seconds for the final 400m. Sure they ran 1.5 seconds slower overall than the track record holder Eamon Maguire did in 2018, bit that horse like the runner-up here Classie Brigade did it up the sprint lane from […]
This is an ugly picture isn’t it? Harness racing in Queensland has lost nearly $40 million over the past six years. The losses are year on year, with no profit or break square periods in between. Thoroughbred and Greyhound racing are paying for these losses. Those two codes are subsiding harness racing prizemoney to the […]
Most race tracks become slower when it rains heavily. Not the Geelong Paceway. It speeds up. I have no idea how, but numbers don’t lie. Due to persistent rain the mobile barrier had to be tested from all starting points prior to the first race, and Stewards ordered that mudguards be fitted to all carts […]
The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) today handed down its decision with regard to the penalty review hearings of Mr Eric Anderson and Mr Glenn Douglas against the decision of the HRV Racing Appeals and Disciplinary (RAD) Board to disqualify Mr Anderson and Mr Douglas for 6 months for offences against the Australian Rules […]
Today is Ashburton Flying Stakes day. No, it is not a mobile race over a mile as the name suggests. It is a 2400m Group 2 run from a standing start. The Flying bit must refer to Self Assured’s start in last year’s NZ Trotting Cup, or would if it hadn’t been the name of […]
Is there a harness racing fan in the Southern Hemisphere who isn’t looking forward to the three-headed clash between Ride High, Lochinvar Art and Self-Assured? Oh man, how good is this going to be? The three best pacers of their generation – perhaps the greatest generation ever – going e mano a mano in a […]
Rejuvenate is the best named horse in the world. Her story is a weird one. She is a ten year old mare by Emma Stewart’s first great pacer Safari, who won Country Cups and Group races for Africa, and finished 4th to Blacks A Fake in the 2008 Inter Dominion. Her mother is by Our […]
The Harness Racing Victoria Stewards – led by former NSW Chief Grant Adams -have a problem with Jack Laugher’s drive on the $1.35 favourite Ozzie Playboy at Mildura a fortnight ago. Can anyone blame them? Not for that, but we all can for what happened after the race. Here’s how things rolled. Laugher was slow […]
Charlton. 27 September 2021. Jayden Brewin is driving the 2 horse. Brewin is known punter who is currently up on charges for betting in races that he drove in. He has also just been suspended for stealing money out of his colleagues wallets in the drivers room while they were out driving in races. Just […]
