Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Watch the horse in the bright red headgear, back second last on the fence. In particular, watch it’s driver Jeremy Quinlan and see what he does. Now watch the head on. Quinlan comes clearly into shot about 5 seconds in. Watch his actions closely. They are disgraceful. What justification in the world can there be […]
Mal Charlton (right), with great mate and driver Steven Doherty. Rest in peace. I was very sad to hear of the passing this week of Mal Charlton, a much loved and highly respected member of the Queensland trotting community. I only had the pleasure of meeting Mal a couple of times over the years at […]
We would like to thank reader Bill Edwards for sending us in these snippets of historical information about the great QLD pacer after whom this website is named. It is greatly appreciated, although we must confess it is a shock to learn than Peter Profit was originally a New South Welshman. Oh well, I guess […]
Hot on the heels of the successful appeals against their criminal convictions by harness trainer/drivers Nathan Jack and Mark Pitt, another less high profile Victorian race fixing prosecution has last week collapsed. Victoria Police’s sporting integrity intelligence unit had in 2019 charged trainer/driver Robert Walters with two offences relating to race-fixing in Shepparton on 17 […]
Here are a few sneaky winners for you at Menangle today. Race 1 – Son of Patrick Has ten lengths on these. The price isn’t much, but it is better than bank interest. Leads and wins. Race 3 – Vatican Hill Kiwi import who had had 2 starts here. Galloped the first time, got beaten […]
Mark Buckingham, the Victorian trainer with an outstanding positive swab to Levaimsole in the NSW jurisdiction, was fined a paltry $2500 for administering a steroid to a weanling in September or October of 2020. I wrote a story critical of the light penalty, but I missed something that an eagle eyed expert reader didn’t. The […]
Do you remember the story we told you last week about ‘Smoking’ Joe Bajada, the bowler owner of Better Eclipse, the winner of the Group 1 Chariots of Fire at Menangle? Well look at what the HRV stewards have had to say about Smoking Joe today. I wonder if Harness Racing NSW will put a […]
EVIDENCE: At the conclusion of Race 9 the Diamonds Day 30th April Mobile Pace a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr V Munro alleging that under Rule 869(7)(b) that THE COBBLER (B Orange) went inside a pylon in the home straight therefore gaining an advantage. THE COBBLER was placed second in the race. Mr […]
I write often about harness racing drivers ‘hocking’ – kicking their horses to make them run faster – for I consider it a cruel and barbaric practice, and one that must be stamped out by stomping down hard on drivers who do it. Would you run out onto the oval and kick your kid in […]
What has happened on the turn entering the home straight in the Group 1 Australian Trotting Grand Prix is nothing short of disgraceful. Chris Angove and his family had spent more than three decades getting their trotter Sundon’s Courage to this race. They’d bred him themselves, and they had bred his mother and his grandmother […]
