Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Deaths on track of harness racehorses are rare, extremely rare, with the sport having the lowest race day mortality statistics of any of the three codes. That’s why the death on-track of any pacer demands a closer inspection. Grubscrew was neither very well named or a very good horse. He only won 2 races, a […]
Editor’s Note – Larry is Leap to Fame. Moses is Grant Dixon, because if his wife Trista’s driving one that’s got him in a pocket he can part the Red Sea. Clip Clop Kev is Mr Kevin Seymour AM, benevolent savior of Globe Derby at 15% compounding interest. Clip Clop owns Larry, who is trained […]
https://www-harness-org-au.akamaized.net/nsw/NRC08112404.mp4 Molly Ison copped a 4-week suspension for her drive her on Sinbinned in this race at Newcastle on the 8th of November. The Stewards found her guilty of a drive that was unacceptable. They reckoned she should have gone to the death instead of easing back to last to get in the line with […]
South Australian trot trainer Aaron Bain hasn’t had any of his stable horses start in a race since the 30th of November. Usually Bain has multiple runners every week, often 2 or 3 times a week. But in the last 3 and 1/2 weeks he has had none. Why not? It’s a mystery to us. […]
https://www-harness-org-au.akamaized.net/wa/GPC20122411.mp4 The WA Stewards said this was a fair start. It was an important call, because the galloper knocked 3 horses out of the race. They were wrong. Watch it slowed down below. That horse was galloping before the starter said go. It should have called off by the starter, or declared a no-race. Instead […]
Harness Racing Victoria must be reading our stories, for their “polite request” made last week for trainers to provide them with the access code to their security gate has now become an official Stewards direction. The reason for the change is, in our view, clearly because after reading the story we published earlier in the […]
Tasmania Wayne Yole succeeds his son Benjamin as the State’s leading trainer, leading in twice as many winners as his nearest rival Tammy Langley, albeit with three times the number of runners. Rohan Hillier wins the drivers title by a street, with 89 winners from 341 drives at a strike rate of 26.1%. Tiarna Ford […]
The Stewards weren’t happy about Doug Hewitt’s drive on Mach Assassin in the 1st race at Albion Park last night. Neither were the punters who backed the horse from $17.00 into $7.50. Both had very good cause, for Hewitt’s steer was a shocker that cost Mach Assassin any chance of probably winning the race, and […]
It must just have been a fantasy. Someone better tell Frank.
Do you remember the horse Cracker Opie that we wrote about in a story last week? The one we said was driven as dead as a maggot? Well guess what? Today we found out why it had been hooked. Cracker Opie was being set for a $25 000 Maiden, and wouldn’t be eligible if he […]
