Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Nobody told me there’d be days like these Strange days indeed Most peculiar, mama The Beatles So Joe Punter’s alarm goes off at 6.00am yesterday, half an hour earlier than usual because he wants to sneak half an hour’s form study and get his bets worked out before he has to get ready for work. […]
Here is yet another protest decision that leave you scratching your head and thinking what the heck? It’s race 7 at Ipswich yesterday. Jaden Lloyd is riding the horse on the inside in the pink and grey. Ryan Maloney is three out in the light blue. Ben Thompson is in the middle in the blue […]
What you see below are the total prizemoney and other distributions (rebates, subsidies, breeder incentives, etc) paid to the racing industry by the Principal Racing Authorities as a share of the overall payments made across Australia in the years 2011 v 2021. I hate to sound like a Peter V’Landys spruiker again here, but facts […]
The seismic shift in the balance of racing power in Australia can be see clearly in a comparison of the top 10 races in 2011 v the top ten in 2021. Ten years ago five of the big ten were run in Victoria, four in Sydney and one in Queensland. A decade later the balance […]

The Stewards upheld the […]

QRIC Stewards decreed that she couldn’t ride again until she had furnished them with […]
Stryking Princess is the horse in red and yellow in front near the fence. Broken Hero is the one in yellow with black cap behind him. They both move out a mile. But the leader looked to me to be a horse length or more in front of the other one, and it seems to […]
This finish for 3rd in the first race at Beaudesert yesterday was close, but the outside looked to me to have margin on the one on its inner, and I rarely call photos wrong. Just ask Merv Butterworth if you don’t believe me. I called his horse home the winner over the line in the […]

Brendon McCoull is one of Tasmania’s leading jockeys. He only takes his saddle off the island once every half blue moon, almost always on a Saturday and only when he has a good ride in Melbourne on a horse like Bello Beau who has travelled over the straight from home to have a crack. McCoull’s […]
