Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
A margin thinner than a pencil line separated the Graeme and Debbie Rogerson-trained two-year-old Sharp ‘N’ Smart from victory in Saturday’s Listed The Phoenix (1500m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday, however co-trainer Graeme Rogerson believes his charge can go one better in this weekend’s Gr.1 JJ Atkins (1600m) at the same venue. The strapping son […]
In another free promotion for the peterprofit.com website, today Ben Dorries has ‘revealed’ that a QLD jockey rode a winner while he was supposed to be out suspended. If you recall, we actually broke the story for 4 weeks ago. You always hear it here first. QLD Race Stewards – When Only the Best Will […]
I’ve just been reading through the Racing Victoria ‘Green Paper’ – Strategic Plan – for the next decade, and am sitting here shaking my head and wondering what planet these people are on. Some of RV’s potential (read: gunna happen, but we just can’t say so yet) plans are no brainers. Sandown gets sold to […]
Anyone standing at the Eagle Farm gates waiting for them to open at around 10.00am yesterday morning must have thought the track was being invaded when an army of 21 QRIC soldiers sprung out of land transports and charged toward the course. The 7 Stewards, 4 Judges, 3 swabbies, 2 Clerks of Scales, 3 Starters […]
What’s a bird? This is. My mate Merv Butterworth is a big name in the trot world, latterly due to being the owner of the champion Copy That, one of the two best pacers in the Southern Hemisphere (his arch rival Self Assured being the other). Merv’s not as well known in the gallops world, […]

Clayton ‘Crayons’ Warren is a Senior Stipendiary Steward with the QRIC, and the acting Chief Steward on the Darling Downs. Crayons chairs the panel at the Toowoomba race meetings, and is the man in charge. Or at least he was until yesterday. But now all of a sudden he’s the Stewards Secretary, the junior who […]
“He’s been an amazing horse for the whole stable and his owners and sadly, had a heart attack coming out of the gates” – Sam Freedman Steel Prince has long been an unsound galloper. The 8-year-old horse only raced 33 times in 5 years. Due to various injuries and problems he has spent 2 of […]
A horse named Steel Prince died on the track at Eagle Farm yesterday. His death happened 200m from the winning post, on the first lap of a 2 lap race. The horse suddenly faltered, then suddenly veered sharp left toward the outside fence. It’s jockey Nash Rawiller fell off. Steel Prince headed sideways toward the […]
