This Stewards report is somewhat frightening. Neither the barrier attendants nor the jockey, or the starter or anyone else at the start at the Mitchell races knew how to properly secure a girth. There were three horses pre-race swabbed at the Rockhampton races yesterday. One in race 3. Price $19.00. And two in race 6. Prices $21.00 and $81.00. Gee that was a great use of scarce resources wasn’t it? A bit like wearing board shorts and a singlet in the snow.
