Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Most people wouldn’t even know Gunstock’s name, which is no surprise because the lightly raced Mick Price and Michael Kent trained 4-year-old has had only six starts, and won just two of them, a maiden at Cranbourne, and last year’s Group 3 Norman Robinson at Caulfield. Don’t be deceived by his seemingly light race record […]
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery None but ourselves can free our minds Bob Marley, non-consenting subject of the Queen, just like me ———————————— Ave Peter Your brother Albert died last year, at a tragically young age. We both knew him, you of course far better than me. I mourned with you, and the good man […]
The bookies are getting excited about the brilliant 3YO colt Akuta’s first-up win the Hannon Memorial at Oamaru yesterday, and have wound him into $6.00 second favourite behind Akuta to win the Kiwi’s premiere harness race the NZ Trotting Cup, which is actually a pace (go figure). I don’t share their enthusiasm at all, for […]
Way back at the start of winter I told you I knew the winner of this year’s Victoria Derby. Sharp N Smart was his name, trained by G. ‘Rogie’ Rogerson and owned by Merv and Meg Butterworth, who are also the owners of the brilliant New Zealand pacer Copy That, conqueror of Lochinvar Art, Bondi […]
The contenders for the job of CEO of Harness Racing Victoria appear to have been whittled down to three. Acting CEO Fiona Mellor is the long odds on favourite. She was put into the role of Chief Commercial Officer to prepare her for the big seat, and she would have to rob a bank not […]
SUBURBAN AND REGIONAL STADIA—Ms Julia Finn to ask the Minister for Skills and Training, Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, and Minister for Sport (1) Does the Government stand by its November 2020 commitment to upgrade Jubilee Stadium? (a) Is the estimated cost of the work still $200 million? […]
I love seeing a more confident and dynamic Penrith. It no longer accepts second rate and, as the geographical centre of the Western Parkland City, we know we deserve world‑class infrastructure. That leads me to Penrith Stadium. The New South Wales Government has committed to the full redevelopment of Penrith Stadium. I know that the […]
The Penrith District AH & I Society – which runs the Penrith Paceway and Penrith Showground – says 177 years of history is at stake after the State Government said it would compulsorily acquire the site for a new stadium if commercial negotiations to buy it failed. Infrastructure NSW this morning confirmed that it wants […]
SIOUX PRINCESS – broke briefly at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner on the first bend. Briefly hampered on the final bend by a weakening runner. Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the films and spoken to driver S Ottley as to whether the mare had been denied a fair start with SIOUX PRINCESS being declared […]
What you is a draft plan for the Penrith redevelopment that was tabled in NSW Parliament last week. I am from Far North QLD and hate Panther town like poison after being robbed twice in the only night I ever spent there, so I don’t understand it. There appears to be a footy stadium to […]
