The Doctor Falls From Grace – The Fix Was In – Trainer Stuart Mathrick Was Framed

Look at the first ‘expert’ report by Racing Victoria’s vet Dr Grace Forbes into the alleged administration of a milkshake by trainer Shawn Mathick to one of his horses.

It was made on 14 October 2019, and this is is what is says:

“In my opinion, the two most likely possible explanations for the modest variation in plasma TCO2 concentration for Ayers Rock recorded on 17 April 2019 include: the administration of an alkalising agent(s) at some time prior to 10.24am on 17 April 2019, assuming that no alkalising agents were administered after that time…”.

That is pretty clear isn’t it?

Trainer Mathrick’s horse – name Ayers Rock – must have been stomach tubed with a milkshake prior to 10.24 am on 14/04/2019, unless it was tubed later.

Now look at the second statement Grace Forbes made on 6 August 2022, some three years and four months later, and after three days of evidence had already been given in Mathick’s hearing. Evidence that it’s 9/10th’s certain that Dr Forbes became aware of.

“In my opinion, there is no significant variation in plasma TCO2 concentration for Ayers Rock recorded on 17 April 2019, and therefore it is unlikely that this horse was stomach tubed with an alkalising agent at 10.25am on 17 April 2019”.

How can this possibly be a typo?

It is not, and logic suggests that it is either Dr Forbes

(a) totally retracting her previous evidence because 3.3 years a bolt of lightning flashed before her eyes and God said “Grace you are wrong. Go forth and fix it”, or

(b) becoming aware that someone else had doctored her report, and her putting her hand up to cover for them; or

(c) having been complicit in a snow job, and running backwards at a million miles an hour after the shit started hitting the fan in other RV investigations – namely Jack and Douglas – and her wanting to wash her hands clean; or

(d) being fed false times by discredited investigator Dion Villella, and now covering for him and RV.

Whichever way you look at it the typo story is bunkum.

So is her revised statement.

First the typo.

Which one is it?

This one?

Explanations for the modest variation in plasma TCO2 concentration for Ayers Rock recorded on 17 April 2019 include

versus

there is no significant variation in plasma TCO2 concentration for Ayers Rock recorded

Note the carefully crafted language.

Modest variation v significant variation.

It means the same thing doesn’t it?

Modest is not significant.

Forbes is not lying, she is just twisting and turning.

If the typo wasn’t that, then it must be this.

Keep your eye on the time.

(the possible reason was) the administration of an alkalising agent(s) at some time prior to 10.24am on 17 April 2019, assuming that no alkalising agents were administered after that time

versus

it is unlikely that this horse was stomach tubed with an alkalising agent at 10.25am on 17 April 2019

See the crafty language again?

Not tubed at 10.25am v tubed prior to 10.24am.

They can mean the same thing too can’t they?

He shot the sheriff at some time before 10.24, but he didn’t shoot him at 10.25.

Lawyers language.

Twisting and turning, and running a mile.

This wasn’t a typo.

This is a cover up.

I will tell you why.

Somewhere either on or in between my suggested (3) and (4) in the possible reasons for Forbes backflip.

Here is why.

On 17 April 2019, Ms Stevenson and Mr McGaw twice attended the stables of Mr Mathrick at Cranbourne. The first visit was at approximately 8.20am and was allegedly for the purpose of a race day stable inspection

The Stewards returned at approximately 10.20am or marginally later, confronting Mr Mathrick at approximately 10.25am. This was intended to be a surprise return inspection, co-ordinated by Mr Villella.

Mr Villella had been and was concealed in some rough and wooded land at the rear of the Mathricks’ property.

Ayers Rock couldn’t have been tubed between 10.20 and 10.25, because the Stewards were there.

It couldn’t have been tubed after 10.25 because the sample was taken around that time.

Villella was lying.

I suspect that Dr Forbes was too, unless Villella spiked the swab.

This whole thing stinks.

Shawn Mathrick was put in the frame and had 3 years of his life wrecked on the basis of clearly jacked up evidence.

What a disgrace.

Dion Villella is a goddamn disgrace.

You cannot trust a word this bloke says, his credibility is absolutely in tatters.

How can this man hold a job in integrity?

It is like putting serial armed robber Russel ‘Mad Dog’ Cox in charge of bank security.

There is no way that gung-ho wannabe copper Villella can be respected or believed ever again.

Villella couldn’t pass a character test if he had ten lengths start.

He should be sacked.

I have very grave doubts about Dr Grace Forbes suitability to continue to hold her role as well.

She comes out of this smelling like a mullet left out for a week in the sun.

The Laming case was bad.

A second round like this is worse.

An independent inquiry is urgently required.

In fact it is essential.
