Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
How is any horse going to beat Just Believe in the final of the ID23 trot? On the evidence of what I have seen throughout the heats, and in particular in the final heat tonight, I don’t think it’s possible. Turpin/Mcmullen’s crazy trotter Gus attacked Just Believe throughout the whole race, making Tubbs/Sugars horse run […]
Twenty-two year ago Daren Garrard contracted a brain tumour that that threatened his life at an early age. He beat it, but received a 2nd blow when the doctors told he and his wife Gayle that they could never have kids. Never say never, for shortly after the miracle happened and 19 years ago Angus […]
We have our doubts about whether the terms of reference for the review of the QRIC announced yesterday by the QLD racing minister are extensive enough (more on that tomorrow), but what we do know is that a review was required. Sitting one our desk is a list of 58 staff members who have left […]
Every person and their dog have come forward to give their opinion on the proposal to sell the Rosehill track so NSW can build 25 000 new houses, but the Big Dog of them all at Rosehill has been conspicuous by his silence. I refer of course to Chris Waller, NSW and Australia’s most successful […]
There is little doubt that Damian Sheales is the highest profile and, on sheer volume, most successful racing appeals practitioner south of the Murray River, and – as he showed yet again in winning Emma Stewart a stay of her disqualification on Friday – one of the reasons why is his ability to state the […]
The bigger they are, the s0fter they fall argument was not of course the only determining factor in Emma Stewart being granted a stay, or indeed the major one. That one was gifted to Stewart’s legal team as a free kick from the other side, that side being the HRV Stewards. You see despite us […]
So Emma Stewart – Victoria’s leading trainer for almost the entire past decade – claims that she wasn’t aware of the one clear day administration rule. The same rule that has been in place for the entirety of her premiership winning reign. Really? Really? Oh yeah Emma, pull the other one, it plays jingle bells. […]
Take a look at this field in a maiden at Traralgon earlier in the week. Every single runner in the race is a 1st starter, and they are all trained by Robert Camilleri. Most of them are legless, although until they jumped no-one knew that except the trainer and his punter mates. They are clever, […]
Recently retired Japanese superstar will stand for the highest first year service fee in Japanese history, a massive $212 500 AU a shot. It’s enormous money, but the horse was an absolute superstar, and is bred in the purple being by super sire Kitisan Black out of a King Halo (son of Dancing Brave) mare, […]
Ben Yole’s best mate the Tasmanian greyhound trainer Anthony Bullock – who was recently disqualified for life after live baiting after the tail of a pademelon (a small possum sized kangaroo) was found on a lure at his property – has appealed his DQ, claiming that deceitful animal activists had ‘planted’ the tail. It’s a […]
