Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Zac didn’t drive Mach Shard, Scott Phelan did, but I like the picture and Barry’s in it. It’s not often these days that you see a Grand Circuit standard horse racing free legged without any hopples. In fact it’s an absolute rarity. That didn’t stop master trainer Barry Purdon from keeping the gear off his […]
Hot And Treacherous was a very smart young pacer in New Zealand who raced against the very best of his generation, and beat a few of them too. He was good when he came to Australia as well, but not grand. Then Jason Grimson got his mitts on the horse, and all of a sudden […]
68 year old NSW trainer Keith McDeed has had just 19 runners at the races in the past 20 years, and in that two decades has prepared just two winners. He hasn’t even had one at the races since 2o21. But that’s all about to change at Newcastle tomorrow night, for like Lazarus – the […]
The word on the street is that the racing lab may have found traces of something a lot more explosive than saline in the tubes of the drips seized from Emma Stewart that lead to her presently stayed 6 month disqualification. Something much more explosive indeed. If the mail is correct, this is going to […]
I dubbed Seaton Grima the next Jason Grimson in a story the other week, and for good reason too, for just like Grimson he has a miraculous ability to take a tried horse from another trainer and put lengths on it. Grima did it again today at Menangle with a pacer from Canberra named Argent […]
At one stage Jason Grimson had the Kiwi import Fire Fox flying, and had it winning races hand over foot and running placings in prestigious affairs like the Wondai’s Mate. Then all of a sudden in April last year the Sir Jason magic wore off, and in ten races since then Firefox has gone winless […]
In the space of just 5 weeks and 37 runners Mildura trainer Naomi Kerr has won almost a third of the prizemoney that she did in 268 starts over the entire course of the last year, and is training winners at almost double the strike rate that she did in 2o23 too. It’s funny that […]
One of the country’s top horse trainers allegedly mocked an Indian stablehand’s accent and told him and other employees to speak proper English while at work. In one instance Stephen McKee even told the other man, “It wouldn’t matter if an Indian died, there would still be a billion left” after he’d nearly been kicked […]
Larrikin trot trainer Tony Peacock has had to hurdle a few obstacles in recent years. Broken necks, fires, floods, legal battles, dissolved partnerships – you name it, Peacock had to deal with it, and it’s been tough. He’s tougher though. They couldn’t knock Azuma Nelson’s great mate down in the ring when he was in […]
Hey Archie, The Murrihy report just highlights what we in the industry already knew. The biggest disgrace is the so called drivers who continue to drive for him. They should all be named and shamed. How they can be that loose with their morals and integrity is astounding. They should hang there head in shame […]
