Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
As you know I have been spruiking Sharp ‘N’ Smart as a Spring Carnival winner for almost 6 months now, and kick off is this Saturday at Randwick in the Gloaming Stakes. The stars have all aligned. Or more precisely, the brilliant Kiwi 3YO’s form has been well and truly franked. Mr Maestro won the […]
Global Turf Solutions (GTS) is the company that was awarded the lucrative $593 189.95 contract to remediate the Charleville race track. It was an extremely odd choice by Racing Queensland. GTS is a company that as is name suggests specialises in constructing grass and turf surfaces. I know the Charleville course well, for it is […]
There are rumours swirling all over Adelaide that dual code trainer Aaron Bain, the unofficial business partner of Summit Bloodstock, has thrown an irregular swab at the gallops. The word is that the A portion of the sample taken from one of his recent runners has tested positive to a prohibited substance, and that the […]
How on earth is the ban on Allan Endresz entering or remaining in the mounting yards at the Melbourne races ‘farcical’, as he claims? Only owners, committee members, race day officials, sponsors and the rare club-invited guests are allowed in the yard, and Alligator Al is none of the above, so he has no right […]
It was a Good 4 track at Gatton on Thursday. There was no rain of any significance, or really at all. But by race 6 the track was rooted. There was a patch between the 500m and 300 mark that became totally unsafe to race on. After the 6th the club attempted to fix it, […]
These changes also provide an opportunity for regional clubs that race regularly, being Mount Gambier and Port Pirie. The news from the trans-Tasman Rogie express is that Sharp N Smart has pulled up beautifully after the trial at Te Awamutu yesterday, and the run has got him just where the great man wants him to be as he gets ready to jump on the plane ready to fly over to his new temporary […]
Sharp N Smart is the Melbourne Merv owned, Rogie trained three-year-old by Redwood who is going to win every race put in front of him this spring, and do it so easily that he will have time to perform a quick Haka as he crosses the line. His full path through the dual carnivals is […]
The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) is the richest race club that I have ever seen in my life. It has net assets of more than $563 million, more than half a billion dollars. These are predominantly the tracks at Caulfield, Sandown and Mornington, all three of which the club owns outright, and 13 pubs full […]
Trainer Frankie Stockdale is a recovering alcoholic. There is no cure for alcoholism. Abstinence is the only answer. Stockdale knows it better than anyone. Two weeks prior to Xmas in 1999 he jumped in his car at 3.30am after an all night and into the morning booze session and drove home, or tried to anyway. […]
