Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Take a look at the interference in the straight to Drialle, the heavily backed $1.70 favourite in the cream and green that is 3 back the fence as they round the turn. Drialle’s rider Martin Harley had every right to shoot the gap down the stretch between the leader on the rail and the horse […]
After a series of cancelled meetings due to problems with the drainage from the course proper, the Cairns Jockey Club has finally advertised for a new full-time track manager. It’s about time. The bloke that they need is Sean Bridges, the former Eagle Farm track manager who got crucified over the failure of the course […]
These are the field sizes for the TAB meeting at the Gold Coast on Saturday. What a joke. Race 1: Four Race 2: Four Rave 3: Seven Race 4: Five Race 5: Five Race 6: Seven Race 7: Four 36 starters in 7 races, just over 5 per race. No 3rd place dividend paid in […]
This has to be addressed – the process around photo finishes is clearly not good enough. Jye McNeil reviewed the photo & we fully agree with him , it’s hard to argue that it actually wasn’t a dead heat. In this day & age our industry should be better than just a lap top computer […]
Watching the Champions Mile live on Saturday I thought that Declan Bates had pulled his rival’s pants down, and was cursing the others jocks to the clouds. Then I watched it on replay and checked the secs and realised that Jennie’s wasn’t just a lucky win, it was a run for the ages. The first […]

Have you heard of this one before? Another horse’s tail getting wrapped around another jockeys boot, causing that rider’s foot to be pulled from the stirrup, which in turn made their mount lose several lengths? That’s what happened to Roth ‘N’ Bell’s rider Morgan Butler in the 8th race at Innisfail yesterday. The horse lost […]
Zac Lloyd is a mega-talented young rider who we all know is a superstar in the making, but gee some of his rides recently have been questionable. This one on Sebonack in the last at Rosehill yesterday is another example. Watch the replay of the final 350m from the side. Lloyd in the Chautauqua colours […]
See how Marcus Wilson had 5 of the acceptances in this 9 horse race at the Gold Coast yesterday, and scratched 4 of them? The minimum field size in Queensland is five. You need that many final acceptors to run a race. They didn’t have enough at the close of acceptances so the noms were […]
