Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
When a dual licensed jockey/trainer has a runner in a race they are not allowed to ride any other horse. Black and white, no ifs or buts, full stop, end of story. As we told you a few days ago, dual licensee Cheryl Rogers rode a horse in the 2nd race at Gayndah against one […]
The 5YO mare Benoni had been around 33 times before she finally broke her maiden at Coonamble on Sunday. Good on the mare and her connections, but there was something very, very weird about the win. Three weeks ago Benoni ran second in a maiden at Warren beaten a long neck, at a price of […]
How the hell did former Albion Park and APG Gold committee man Trevor Reilly get away with registering this name? Say it out loud. Gee I wonder what he’s pushing up the hill?
Shane Loone is the South Australian trot trainer whose horses were switched in races at Globe Derby last month, although he got sprung before the planned plunge one could run. You remember Loone. He’s the bloke who said that he wasn’t at the track on ring-in night for more than a few minutes until he […]

The TAB have the full replay up. This is the vital bit, […]
If Group 1 winning jockey turned Group 1 winning trainer Mark Riley is not the hardest done by man in racing, he is at least in the top 5. Riley is serving an effective life sentence for the grand crime of presenting a horse to race when it was close to over the TCO2 limit. […]
If you read or see the story about the poor woman with COVID-19 living in a tent in her Mum’s back yard because there is no emergency accommodation available to people required to quarantine, take it with a huge grain of salt. All is not as it appears with Georgia Millsom’s story. That all is […]
They are strange beasts these professional sports people. Leon Spinks beats Muhammed Ali in the upset of the century and has the world and hundreds of millions of dollars in prize purses at his feet. He hits the cocaine, stops training, loses the rematch, then loses it all. Prior to his death earlier this year […]
Big Philou’s nobbling in 1967 was the most controversial Caulfield Cup affair in history, but I wasn’t alive then. The greatest Caulfield Cup controversy in my lifetime occurred in 1998.
