Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Million-dollar earner Cruz Bromac will make his debut for the Jason Grimson stable at Menangle today. The former Victorian pacer was previously trained by Dean Braun and prior to that Mark Purdon in New Zealand. Having collected $1,060,645 in stakes throughout his career, Cruz Bromac spent more than a year away from the racetrack and […]
For the last 30 years people have been complaining that the trots have gone the way of the dinosaurs, never to return. I don’t believe them. Everyone bets on the gallops, but unless you are rich enough to buy one – i.e. worth a couple of mil or more in change – or keen enough […]
Those tricky buggers from Harness Racing NSW have spliced the film so you can’t see it and I can’t show you, so you will have to rely on my accuracy and honesty here rather than evidence of your own eyes I am afraid. Trust me though, what I am about to tell you is 100 […]
King of Swing has just been crowned Australian Horse of the Year for the 3rd consecutive year, and quite rightly too. He made his return to racing last night at Menangle in a Free For All, and blew in the betting market from $1.25 to $1.50. Colt Thirty One has won Queensland Horse of the […]
As most racing people will know, Peter V’Landys original idea for the Everest wasn’t original at all. Everything is borrowed, and PVL borrowed the concept from the Pegasus World Cup, the then $12 million slot race run by the private US race track operator the Stronach Group, who in response to the usurping of its […]
See the horse in the 1-1? The one in the blue? It’s Scaramucci, the 2nd favourite. Do you thinks it’s driver Greg Rue is trying? I don’t. Unless he is frozen in the middle of a heatwave, Rue is definitely not doing his best to win the race, and it looks very much to me […]
If the Harness Racing NSW CEO is going to put his nephew on the payroll to write feel good stories in response to ours that raise questions about a trainer’s extraordinary success in putting never before seen speed into the legs of aged and battle weary pacers, he should at least hire him a research […]
Loui had raced 18 times prior to October. It had won twice. The time it ran in that win was 1.57.2. This horse had always been trained by Ross Adams, and still is. Adams had driven it in it’s every start too. But 6 weeks ago all of a sudden first David Morris, and then […]
Joe Conolly used to be a full-time copper and part-time trainer who played around around with the few horses and enjoyed a bit of luck. I don’t know if Conolly still a detective in the NSW police force, but he certainly has a lot more horses these days, and is having a whole lot of […]
Do you reckon that James Innes Jr was fair dinkum on Blueskin in the Eve Security Services Maiden Plate at Gosford on Friday? I very much doubt it. Blueskin was a first starter coming into this off two trials. In the first of them a month ago he jumped like a rabbit with Innes on […]
