Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Isn’t it strange that a near two-year Steward’s inquiry into suspected doping by trainer Chris Munce comes to light just 4 days after the last race of the Brisbane Winter Carnival. I guess it’s coincidence hey? Just like it is that Munce has been charged with doping a mare, and that 6 of his 7 […]
The Brown Rice man teaches Brodie Loy to walk like a duck The last time I spoke to Ronald Johnson – the aka Brown Rice Man – was just last week. He was living in Toowoomba and about to make his way slowly up to Port Douglas via the inland route. Ronaldo wanted to camp […]
By Adam Hamilton 10:43am • 28 June 2022 TOP trainer Grant Dixon thinks his outstanding three-year-old Leap To Fame is a false favourite for the $305,000 Group 1 Rising Sun. I wonder if trot writer Adam Hamilton ever checks the betting markets before he writes stories about them. This one published on Racenet yesterday works on […]
There is something seriously wrong with harness racing in Wagga, and it’s got nothing to do with the horses. It’s Harness Racing NSW. First they spent outlandish sums of money in the vicinity of $15 million constructing a new track, one that was supposed to cost circa only $3.5 million. After delay upon delay, and […]
I Cast No Shadow is a smart pacer, there is no doubt about that, but is he really good enough to run 1.4 seconds faster than three-time Australian Horse of the Year and triple Inter Dominion winner Im Themightyquinn to break the track record at Albion Park over 1660m? First-up since April? In a trial? […]
Boncel Benjamin won the Inter Dominion last year. Not long before that it was running in claimers. I don’t need to tell that rock n’ roll Jill – Jason Grimson – trained it do I? Jill could train a three legged donkey 14-year-old camel to win the Miracle Mile if you asked him to. The […]
Forbury Park is a famous trot track in Dunedin in New Zealand’s south, which from 1890 until the decision of the new NZ Racing Board to close it down last year was the spiritual home of harness racing in Otago. For over 12 months now the track has been sitting idle and unused. Not any […]
In highly unusual circumstances, it has been revealed that the author of The Teachers Pet podcast, award winning journalist Hedley Thomas, this week gave evidence at the murder trial of the accused Chris Dawson under what is known as section 128 certificate, which is legal protection against self-incrimination. Under the terms of the section 128 […]
Earlier this week we published a story based on information gleaned from a story written by journalist Cameron Barclay and published in the Otago Daily Times. In our story we repeated the assertion made by Mr Barclay – who was present at the Stewards inquiry into the relevant rule breach hearing – that Jones had […]
Isn’t it strange that David Murray, the journalist reporting on the Teacher’s Pet author Hedley Thomas’s evidence at the trial of Chris Dawson for the alleged murder of his wife Lyn, does not disclose that he is the brother in law of the witness. It is rather dishonest isn’t it? Murray has a clear conflict […]
