Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Dear Archie What a great idea. I agree that they should honour this legend of the game. When I was young boy he didn’t live too far away from me. I lived at Wentworthville and Tappy lived at old Toongabbie. I remember him driving in commentators races against the likes of Frank Kennedy, Bill Ellis […]
The identity of the proposed new owner of Alligator Blood remains a mystery, with billionaire Gerry Harvey declaring “it’s not me”. It had been speculated that Harvey, the breeder of Alligator Blood, had been offered up by embattled Allan Endresz as the “new” owner of the horse, who has been banned from racing in NSW and Victoria. Racing Victoria confirmed today that […]
In order to sell Gloucester Park to the Senior Vice President of the Western Australian Trotting Association’s son’s company, the WATA need to have the approval of at least two-thirds of the membership cast a vote. Fifty percent of those that cast a vote must vote yes. What that means in practical effect is that […]
Peter V’Landys has just named a Group race after Kenny Callander and Max Presnel. It’s a crying shame that he had to pinch it off Stan Fox, but it’s an honour richly deserved. Harness Racing NSW should name a race after Johnny Tapp too. It has to be a Group 1, because Tappy is a […]

Robert Heathcote pleaded guilty to administering, or causing to administer, a product that is well known to contain cobalt to 23 horses in the space of just 2 months. His disciplinary history showed that he had been convicted of like offences before, and was thus a repeat offender. Many trainers with no disciplinary history at […]
At his best I rate Zac Butcher as the 3rd best driver in New Zealand, behind Nat and Mark. In the four seasons between 2017 and 2020 he proved my judgement right by winning at an average strike rate of about 1 in every 6 drives. But something happened along the way, and I am […]
Where’s Daddy used to be trained by trained by the convicted criminal Mitchell Kerr – the man who sold horses that didn’t exist, and then charged his clients imaginary fees for the upkeep the non-horse never incurred – and driven by Matthew Anderson, the convicted criminal who deals drugs and bashes and strangles women. The […]
We have few things to say, and instead will reflect on the issue by asking a few questions, as follows: Is anyone actually surprised? Have the QRIC Stewards gone back and looked at any of Callow’s rides since he has been in Queensland? Have they looked at the ones that showed up in the betting […]
