Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Have a bet on my horse Pentito in the last at sunshine coast tomorrow, currently 3.1 on the fixed. Trained by Jason Edwards who’s going well. I believe he’s a 1.70 chance in that field but carrying big weight at 60kgs. I still think we’ll be too good, best of luck with the punt I got […]
See this beautiful looking 2yo yearling filly? She’s by Bettors Delight out of Laurella, who is out of Christian Cullen, the golden cross. Black Pearl is her name. Cran Dalgety paid $120 000 on behalf of his clients for her at last year’s Auckland sale. It was money very well spent. The filly debuted in […]
I spent three hours on the phone today with Michael Radley, the CEO of Gloucester Park, and based on what I have been told I have come to the conclusion that the story I wrote earlier regarding the sale of parts of the track land was wrong. Mr Kevin Jeavons had no part to play […]
There were 35 pre-race swabs taken from runners at the Rosehill meeting yesterday. Victoria took 32. South Australia pre-race swabbed 23. How about in Queensland you ask? They took just 5. Yes that’s correct, only 5 runners on the whole card in the 3rd biggest racing state in the land were pre-race swabbed so that […]
Steve Rodgers is a quiet unassuming type of bloke, so a lot of people don’t know his name. That’s a shame, for he is one of the smartest and most knowledgeable blokes in the business. Steve has been an expert track clocker, racing writer and form analyst since I first met him 40 years ago, […]
I’ve been telling people for years to forget about the Miracle Mile and the Inter Dominion and the Hunter Cup and the Blacks a Fake and all that sort of nonsense. There is only one show in town, and that’s the EKKA. The EKKA, better known as the QLD Royal National Association Show, is the […]
Alexandra Park 1973. Once were warriors, now just holes in the ground and towers in the sky. “I think we’re doomed in Auckland. Harness racing could be extinct in the north in five years. We’ve been on a slippery slope for so long and breeders have been treated like toe-rags for years. “It’s amazed me […]
We’ve got a whole bunch of horse racing loving tourists up here at the moment for the Symons-Laxon wedding, and almost every one of the mugs is rushing off to pay some Mick Dundee type a motza to take them out to see a crocodile. I don’t why they bother. You only need to drive […]
Gladstone 19-year-old wonder kid Brooke Johnson (below, when she was 15) rode at a winner at her first ever meeting a month ago, and hasn’t stopped riding them since. She booted home a double yesterday on the Gladstone sand to give her a career record of 7 wins from 19 starts, at a strike rate […]
We broke the story this week about Marc Van Gestel leaving Sydney to take up the Chief Steward’s role there, and although the mainstream press haven’t caught up yet, you can be guaranteed it’s true. Based on his performance post race 5 at Rosehill today, they can have him. I’m not sure what was the […]
