Is the Horse Drawn the Pole Unfairly Favoured at Gloucester Park? – Let’s Look at the Stats
As we showed you last night there is a push on from the WA BOTRA (Breeders, Owners, Trainers, Reinspersons Association) for the Gloucester Park track to be reconfigured as part of the sale deal that the club has put out to its members to vote on. BOTRA’s main claim is that the current configuration favours […]
Two Sides to a Story
What you see above is a story printed in yesterday’s WA’s main newspaper yesterday in which the Breeders Owners Trainers and Reinspersons Association (BOTRA) are critical of the Western Australian Trotting Association’s plans to redevelop its wholly owned asset Gloucester Park. Below is a letter sent to members by the WATA CEO Michael Radley in […]
One of the Good Guys Elected to the HRNZ Board
Cam Bray is the auctioneer at the NZ Standardbred sales. Everyone who has ever been to Karaka or Christchurch for the yearling auctions knows him, if not personally then by face and name and by the great work that he does. He is universally regarded as a good and decent bloke. Bray is the President […]
Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery
Lachlan Murdoch is suing Crikey for defamation. They didn’t ask or invite him to, he just did it. It happens to me all the time. Mark Di Stefano, the writer for the Australian Financial Review, claims that Crikey published private legal correspondence between them and Murdoch. That’s bullshit. Nothing gave him more pleasure than seeing his little daughter picking roses in the garden, roses she […]

Many hold the stage only for as long as their horse is winning big races. There are “constants” like the big Arabs, Irish and big syndicate heads, but there are also those […]
Look at the Scoreboard
The Always B Miki fans who are smarting about the story we wrote the other day putting the knock on him as a sire were quick to fire back at us after his US filly Strong Poison won the $80 000 third round of Kentucky Championship series harness racing division for 2-year-old pacing fillies at […]
Nathan Jack Drives a Pearler to Land a $34 into $4 Plunge – Who Ever Said at the Trots That it’s Ever Your Last Chance?
The Last Chance hadn’t won a race in his past 13 starts. In fact he hadn’t won one for 9 months. At his past 8 starts the horse’s average starting price had been $42.25. On Monday night at Shepparton the bookie’s opened The Last Chance up at $34.00, which seemed about the right price given […]
