Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Like Elvis, the supposedly independent QRIC Internal Reviewer Kane Ashby has left the building. Ashby, who in recent times has been calling himself the Internal Adjudicator, even though no such position exists, has resigned from his role at the QRIC. That or been restructured out. Good. He was one-eyed and biased and upheld 95 out […]
It was a much better run by Verry Elleegant 2nd up at Lonchamp on Sunday, and she did ridden upside down and against good horses too. From the big picture point of view it doesn’t matter. She is still a million to one to win the Arc. It’s not just because aged mares don’t win […]
The Stewards have some major questions about the race won in scintillating fashion by Captain Ravishing at Bendigo on Friday night. They want to know why driver Allan McDonough took the winner’s $151 stablemate out of the single file from last after the field had found their places, but only went as far as he […]

Greg Carpenter was the Victorian handicapper for 18 years. He rates the best five Australian horses that he ever saw in that time as Winx, So You Think, Black Caviar, Makybe Diva and Verry Elleegant. I reckon he’s a pretty good judge. A bloke well suited to his job. Or should I say, his art.
Only two races prior to getting pinched for whipping a horse nine times before the 100m mark, jockey Gary Geran had been suspended for 9 days for careless riding. Then an hour later he does this. “The horse was too calm in the prelim” jockey Geran told the Stipes, before adding that “he felt a […]
The NSW Commission of Inquiry report into Star City Casino is going to be handed down today. Everyone’s mail is that Star Entertainment are $1.10 to be found unfit to hold a casino license. That can be fixed simply in NSW by Star selling out, and someone else taking over. But what is the Queensland […]
He may have been adjudged as being a little mad. But, perhaps, not that mad. TARGET is, of course, referring to Mr Deacon Chiu Te Ken, Chairman of Far East Holdings International Ltd and Far East Consortium International Ltd, both companies, being listed on The Stock Exchange of Hongkong Ltd. Mr Deacon Chiu Te Ken, […]
