Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Nah I am not kidding. It is just not footy as you imagined, it’s the races. Geoffrey ‘Gus’ Goold – a former jockey who was been working as a stipe for 5 years since a horror injury ended his riding career – is about to become the Deputy Chief Steward (Thoroughbred) in Queensland. There you […]
The mail has been coming thick and fast since we published our article about the kiwi harness racing chief Gary Woodham coming to Australia, and the markets have changed dramatically. Woodham is 100-1 about getting the Racing QLD job. Acting Tasracing CEO Andrew Jenkins is $1.01 to get that job. Which leaves only one for […]
I wonder how the West Australian harness racing community feels about the Eastern State interlopers Aaron Bain Racing and Summit Bloodstock taking over as the major sponsors of the about to radically redeveloped Gloucester Park Paceway? To me it sounds a bit like giving Nick Suric sponsorship rights at Yonkers, or granting the Butcher the […]
Questions asked of Harness Racing New Zealand, and the process followed in appointing an independent director has brought to light issues concerning the constitution and integrity of the process ultimately followed. The evidence suggests that the process followed by the board and management of HRNZ in selecting its appointment to the independent director position was […]

Racing Queensland is seeking a dynamic, commercially astute and energetic Chief Executive Officer to lead its organisation into the future. Well Keith from QLD has claimed a huge scalp on his first day on the dob. He points the bone at Darren Weir, and inspired by Keith so does Jamie Stier. DK Weir’s DQ for possession of two jiggers might be expiring soon, but it matters about as much as a melting snow flake in […]
They reckon a quite a familiar name in Aussie harness racing has been quietly spending up big time over on the other side of the ditch. A fella from Leeton I’m told. Name of Michael Boots. He’s very popular with the South Island kiwis, who love a good new mark. Steve Stockman from Stonewall might […]
A poorly performing TAB NZ last week announced to the three codes that distributions would be reduced for the current season, a move that places the present low levels of New Zealand prizemoney in jeopardy and further undermines the future of racing in New Zealand. If you thought that the New Zealand racing fraternity’s morale […]
To be fair to Tod, his tenure commenced only in March of this year and his current problems come inherited from previous administrative regimes with the most damage done before his arrival. The turnover in August and September rose through aggressive promotions but profit fell in the same months compared to 2021, and the only […]
