The Cards Fall Copy That’s Way After the Draw – But The Grinner is Far From Over Yet, Don’t You Worry About That
The intrigue that has surrounded the Race By Grins has taken a stunning twist and turn after the barriers were drawn last night. Copy That has become the clear favourite after pulling the perfect barrier 4, which will become gate 3 after the almost certain scratching of the 2 horse Smiffy’s Terror. There is very […]
They Say That Dreams Can Come True – If John Catton’s Black Flash Wins 1st Up Today at Ippy at Age 4 After 6 Months Away From the Track, Then I Guess We Will Have to Say They Are Right
We note with interest that our favourite greyhound Little Byrnes – aka the Black Flash – returns to racing in the 6th at Ipswich today, after a presumably injury enforced 6 months away from the track. Not many greyhounds make a successful comeback after that long away, especially dogs that are 4 years and 2 […]
The Black Horse Isn’t the Only One That is Dying – What Happens When the Drugs Don’t Work – And When They Do -Joseph O’Brien – Part 1
Illegal performance enhancing drugs have no place in Irish racing and breeding industries. In particular, the Task Force supports the position of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities that the use of anabolic steroids should not be permitted in or out of competition. Doping is cheating, and cheating is fraud: cheats have no place in […]
The Black Horse is Not the Only One That is Dying – Joseph O’Brien – Part 2
(Background note – Dr Lynn Hillyer is the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board’s Chief Veterinary Officer and Head of anti-doping) There have been multiple cobalt cases during Dr Hillyer’s tenure as Chief Veterinary Officer, but O’Brien’s violation goes to the heart of everything that’s wrong with her anti-doping programme Pedisnap ran four times as a three […]
The Black Horse Isn’t the Only One That is Dying – Joseph O’Brien – Part 3
POSTSCRIPT ● Pedisnap didn’t win another race for O’Brien after the cobalt violation. Hillyer’s investigation of the trainer was not intended to catch a cheat, but to cover-up for a cheat. ● In addition to the intelligence the Black Horse Newsletter received about the case in Australia, we have found out the name of the […]

His three runners weren’t bad, they were awful. Baron Samedi had great staying form in Europe and in the USA. He had won the Vintage Crop […]
Did Ciaron Maher Put Gold Trip in the Sydney Cup to Hook the Weights For Jack?
I know he pulled up lame, but you have to ask yourself the question. Did Ciaron Maher put Gold Trip in the race to hook the weights for his stablemate Explosive Jack? It is hard to escape the conclusion when you look at the facts. Explosive Jack was a triple Derby winner in the 2021 […]
Forget What the So Called Experts Say – The Grinner is Just a Three Horse Race – One Really – Sorry Jean and Merv
The draw for the Grinner will take place at 6.00 tonight, 4.00pm Australian time. It’s going to be a great race, that’s for sure. Mark Purdon has 3 of the runners, and – quite remarkably – the Australian trainer Jess Tubb has 2. That’s half the field between them. There are ten runners in the […]
The Riverina Champions Night Was a Farce – Seven Horses That Weren’t Eligible Raced – They Must All Be Disqualified
On Saturday night the Wagga club hosted the finals of the Riverina Championships. Two $100 000 finals were run, one for 4 and 5YO mares, and one for 4 and 5YO horses and geldings. There was no problem with either of those. The issue is with 5 of the other events on the card. 7 […]
