Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
This is race 7 at Eugowra. You can’t quite work out what happened, but it’s a miracle that no-one got killed. No-one except the punters who backed the horse getting the 1-1 run from $101 into $4.40. It’s a case of ouch, every which way.
Former New Zealand trainer/driver Kyle Marshall’s incredible run of success since moving across the ditch to Australia continued on Saturday night when his smart 2YO Smoken Ace came 4-wide from 2nd last to brain his rivals in the last race at Melton. The win took Marshall’s winning strike rate to a quite incredible 41% for […]
Maurice McKendry was a wonderful driver over a long number of years, but all roads end except those to nowhere and I reckon his has. The man they call Magic drove the dual NZ Cup winner Copy That in a race that he should have won at Alexandra Park on Friday night, and got it […]
Hey Archie I was interested in your thoughts on Tamworth R9 yesterday which was trifectad by Summit. I found it odd that Tom Ison on one of the two fancies would hand up to an outsider in Joes Redemption given the lack of a sprint lane at the venue. Summit owns both the horses but […]
This was race 3 at Shepparton on Friday night. Keep your eyes on the horse on the very inside. There is no clear run for it up the sprint lane. So the driver ignores the rules about going inside the pegs and makes one. No Steward saw this either. We’re flying in the integrity ranks […]

The NZ junior drivers championship involves 12 drivers, including the top four from Canterbury, the top three from Auckland, top two from Southland and then the next two points scorers overall, plus the wildcard. Nathan Delany, Leah Hibell and Fergus Schumacher from the North Island all have more Junior Drivers points than Korbyn Newman does. […]
How can a seemingly insignificant harness racing program observation that a horse who loses ground in the stretch will produce more winning longshots than any other program-only angle? This simple angle is frequently the final decisionmaker before placing a wager. It has been the source of more double-digit winners and triple-digit (and beyond) gimmicks than […]
Mario Borg – Super Mario – drives a winner in a race on average every 20 starts, and runs a place about 1 in 4. Or he used to anyway. This month his strike rates have spiked to 20% the win and 70% the place. He’s like a fine wine this now half centurion. Starts […]
