Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Tims a Trooper is an emergency in The Eureka. He’s the stablemate of the favourite Leap To Fame. In the past 2 hours he has been the medium of what looks to be the greatest plunge in Australian harness racing history. Tim has firmed from $51 into $3.90 on TAB fixed price to win the […]
The old Tramway workshop at Randwick, which the race is named after Chris Waller mare Olentia is the red hot $2.25 favourite to win the Tramway at Rosehill on Saturday, but it’s a totally crazy price, and as good was she is, I very much doubt that Waller’s little star girl can knock off the […]
This is Sharp ‘N’ Smart galloping with a stablemate between races at Te Rapa on Saturday. He ran sub 36 seconds for his last 600, going at a hand canter. Goodness, gracious me. How good does Merv’s superstar look at the start of his road to the Melbourne Spring Carnival? I don’t think there has […]
Bloody hell. Fab’s Cowboy got beaten again at Mt Isa yesterday. Not by much – only about a half length – but it was enough to leave him stranded still on 49 wins. He’s running out of time here old Fab. He is 12 now, and mandatory retirement rules mean that he’s finished on the […]
As you can see above, the QRIC Stewards in charge of the Cairns Cup meeting yesterday were convinced that the last race on the card was the Lightning. It wasn’t. The Lightning was a 950m open class dash run as race 8. Race 10 was a Class 6 run over 1250m. They couldn’t even get […]
What on earth was jockey Adrian Layt thinking aboard Flash Aah in the Cairns Cup yesterday? He wasn’t is my guess, he just did what very average jockeys do, which is not think at all. Up until about the 500 metre mark Layt had ridden Flash perfectly. He’d planted himself on the hot fave Namazu’s […]
Tom Hedley has a massive stable of horses, almost all of them 2nd hand rejects from the south of varying qualities. It costs a fortune to feed them. To pay for it Uncle Tom has to pull off the occasional plunge on big race days when he can get a decent bet on. That’s usually […]
Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards today conducted an inquiry into the conduct of licensed trainer/s driver/s Mr Jason Grimson, Mr Jack Trainor, Brisbane Racing Club employee Mr Adam Russo and registered owner Mr Justin Downey following the completion of the Albion Park Harness Racing Club race meeting on 22 July 2023. Stewards considered evidence […]
The author, like many around the country, is bedridden with the dreaded late winter flu. As a result there will be no stories this morning. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The handicaps for the Cairns Cup were released yesterday, and baby it’s game on, Namazu has been given 61kg, and he deserves it too, for this Ricky Vale trained horse that we call Big Zu after Kostya and Tim is brilliant, far better than the city slickers in the south could ever imagine. This is […]
