Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
16-year-old Zara Fitzpatrick is an absolute ringer for her father Blake Fitzpatrick. She mirrors him in driving ability too. Zara made her professional debut at Penrith last night, and kicked off her career with a memorable winner. The grand-daughter of Hall of Fame trainer Paul Fitzpatrick actually finished second over the line in her first […]
Sharp ‘N’ Smart’s planned assault on the Sydney Autumn Carnival looks well and truly over after his horrendous 9.1 length defeat when finishing 2nd last in the Bonecrusher NZ Stakes at Ellerslie on Saturday. The reigning Kiwi Horse of the Year went terribly in the Group 1 won by El Vencedor. He was off the […]
The st0ry being cast about regarding the horrible state of the Gold Coast track on Saturday is that a mistake was made whereby not enough water was placed on the course proper in the days leading into the meeting, resulting in the problems that the turf surface displayed on the day. Quite frankly I reckon […]
We didn’t want to write it for legal reasons last week when we broke the story, but everyone now knows that it is jockey Sariah Champkin who has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm on a fellow licensee and another of willful damage by Queensland Police following the alleged stabbing incident […]
It was interesting to observe that the Queensland based thoroughbred syndicator KO Racing didn’t purchase any yearlings at this month’s Magic Millions QTIS sale. Many are speculating that this is because they still owe $760 000 to the auction house from the January sales and with the debt outstanding couldn’t get any further credit. Far […]

That’s the question stakeholders, from owners to trainers, jockeys and especially punters, were asking after the Jewel Day […]
For years we have been led by race clubs to believe that penetrometer readings mean something, but looking at this then perhaps we have all been conned. See the track ratings for metro meetings in Brisbane and at the Gold Coast in recent weeks and months. The penetrometer reading at the Gold Coast is shallower […]
We have been spruiking Fabs Cowboys quest to become the most winning horse in Queensland history for a long time now, and today in the red center the Cowboy finally achieved it. What a great win. What a great horse. What a great trainer. What a great ride. The Cowboy has done it, at the […]
The mail is that NSW trainer Clayton Harmey has thrown a positive swab to Levamisole that might see him punted from the game for a while. Word is that Kevin Pizzuto has been to Harmey’s training property today to collect his horses in anticipation of the trainer being given a spell, and that others may […]
What an oddly run race the last at Doomben was yesterday. Both the favorite Mister Jonno and the 2nd favorite Ludovisi – the stablemate of the winner Zakiyya – began slowly, far too slowly for my liking. Neither of the riders of both appeared keen to do anything but stick to the fence and run […]
