Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
What a wonderful thing yesterday’s Gatton memorial race day is. A card held in memory of the people who made the Lockyer Valley Turf Club and it’s racetrack what it is. It is just brilliant. An outstanding idea and a fitting tribute to those who came before. Every race club in the land should have […]
We have written many times about Masterati, the galloper that while in the ‘care’ of trainer Grant Young in Oakbank, SA was Australia’s most overworked horse. Young used to race the poor thing every week, week in week out, and sometimes even 2 or 3 times a week, all to juice the lemon and win […]

The video of the events leading to the scratching of Modern Games in the Breeders Cup that the Californian racing authorities were trying so hard to hide has finally been released, and you can now see why they didn’t want it to be. Modern Games didn’t rear up and hit its head on the stalls […]
About three days ago Racing Victoria announced its new ‘Million dollar Summer of Speed series’. A month before it begins. How do you prep a sprinter for a series that kicks off in just 4 weeks time? It would be a good trick, wouldn’t it? These races are rubbish, and it is not even really […]
What on earth would possess any sane racing authority enough to convince them that transferring the Underwood Stakes at Caulfield to Sandown, and then moving the Sandown Cup, Guineas and Zipping Classic (formerly the Eclipse Stakes) to Caulfield and moving it back a fortnight while keeping the same now totally inappropriate names was a good […]
