Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
I hate to tell Harness Racing New Zealand this, but 4.00.5 minus 3.56.6 actually equals 3.9 seconds, not 4.9. What does it matter though? Fifty metres? Seventy metres? A hundred? A thousand? It’s all just academic isn’t it? You can run too fast as you like and fly even higher when you’re on this gear. […]
For a long time now there have been a growing number of NZ harness racing participants decrying the dominance of the Robert Dunn and Mark Purdon stables, and saying that there is something very, very wrong about the way they dominate the feature events in the country, particularly in the South Island. After what we […]
Dunn wins the last race as well. It has been a very successful carnival. Not as good as the comeback kid Mark Purdon’s though. He drives a treble to add to his six on Cup Day and make it 9 winning drives at Addington’s most important two days of the racing year. His partner in […]
If the winner of the 12th race at Addington on Cup Day wasn’t chemically assisted, then Francesca Cumani is without doubt the ugliest woman that I have ever seen, and Rachel Hunter runs a close second. No Time Like Now is the horse’s name. It started at a price of $40, and won by almost […]
Karman Line was a first starter from the Lance O’Sullivan stable when the filly lined up in a Maiden at Te Aroha (Love) racecourse yesterday. She is not anymore. Black type will be her thing in the future. Watch this. And put this little girl straight in your black book. When is the last time […]
What you see in the picture is race 8 at Te Aroho (which by the way means Love) in New Zealand. There are eight starters in the race, and Atomic is one of them. Atomic runs third. Neds and Ladbrokes pay a place dividend for him, so do the TAB. So does everyone actually, except […]
What’s going on over there in New Zealand on Cup Day is just so ridiculous that it makes a mockery of the game. Mark Purdon has driven the winners of five of the seven races so far. The last two were legless at their last starts, absolutely legless. 18 days ago All About Faith ran […]
My head is spinning about the changes to the New Zealand harness racing calendar, and I don’t really know what to think. Mick Guerin is painting it in a positive light, but what else is he supposed to do? I’m not sure that he really believes it. With the rider that I need to wait […]
Harness Racing New Zealand is a very sound organisation with excellent finances. There is no dollar reason for it to pull out of the Inter Dominion. Ken Spicer’s spurious statement that there are a lack of Open Class horses in New Zealand is a barrel of absolute nonsense too. Copy That and Amazing Dream just […]
Dear Councillor Whilst I admire your activism on behalf of the low waged – me being one – and your concerted efforts to end the plague of violence against women, both of which are highly honourable and absolutely essential outcomes and goals, I feel compelled to express my grave concern about your role in locking up Australians and […]
