Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Eye See Things When questioned regarding his riding on the mare in the early and middle stages and in particular the reason why he elected to position his mount towards the outside rail along the backstraight, rider N Rawiller stated that his instructions were to ride Eye See Things in a prominent position, however no […]
Do you reckon this race was a fix? It’s the 2nd at the Valley, and Ben Melham rides the winner. I don’t. But a couple of well connected readers say that it was a welcome back Benny benefit, a charity event put on by a few jockeys to show their colleague that they think he […]
Jaden Lloyd is one hell of a jockey, an absolute gun. But his little brother Zac is just as good. The kid proved it yesterday in the last at Ipswich. Little Lloyd was riding an outsider in a five horse field. His rivals were the multiple Group 1 and Sydney premiership winner Larry Cassidy, gun […]
We have had a couple of calls since we put up the story about Jaden Lloyd being allowed to claim 2 kilos off Hatchet’s weight when he replaced the over weight Ryan Maloney at the last minute in the $127 500 QTIS 3YO Handicap at Caloundra on Saturday, and most of them are saying that […]
The rule that is printed at the top of this page relates to the replacement of riders at race meetings, in situations where for whatever reason one jockey cannot meet their declared commitment to take the mount, and another jockey must ride it instead. Watch the start of the Lightning again. Profiteer jumped sideways and smashed Nature Strip. Or at least that is what we are told. It looks to me like Brett Prebble deliberately jumped the roughie out and steered it straight to his left into the even money favourite’s path, and that Nash Rawiller – who was […]
Maurice Logue is a good bloke. He was a good jockey, and he is a decent man. M. Logue has been appointed to the role of Welfare Officer at the National Jockeys Trust, and he is a most worthy appointment indeed. If you are a race or track work rider down on your luck and […]
There is a lot of ill-feeling floating around Queensland racing circles about Winxy Waller’s Queensland racing manager, a young regally bred son of a rich and influential funds manager named Fitton. The word is that this silver spoon fed fast tracked yuppie was contacted recently by a well-regarded and earnest jockey manager, who was simply […]
Look at Hugh Bowman’s ride on Outlandos in the 3rd race at Randwick today, and compare and contrast it to that of J-Mac on Delexo in the race immediately after. Diamonds and rocks. And trying and not. Tom Berry on the second horse here was trying too. Trying to cheat. But he proved ‘armless.
Listen closely. Oh dear. Mr Jockey, wash your mouth out with soap. Mr Editor, I will see you in my office.
